Chinese (traditional)The Spirit of the Lord is upon me,
for he has anointed me to bring Good News to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim that captives will be released,
that the blind will see,
that the oppressed will be set free. Wives, submit to your husbands, as is fitting for those who belong to the Lord. Husbands, love your wives and never treat them harshly. A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer. Three are even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken. Honor your father and mother. Then you will live a long, full life in the land the Lord your God is giving you. That is what the Scriptures mean when they say,
“No eye has seen, no ear has heard,
and no mind has imagined
what God has prepared
for those who love him.” Fathers can give their sons an inheritance of houses and wealth,
but only the Lord can give an understanding wife. “My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the Lord.
“And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine.” Live wisely among those who are not believers, and make the most of every opportunity. Let your conversation be gracious and attractive so that you will have the right response for everyone. Enjoy prosperity while you can,
but when hard times strike, realize that both come from God.
Remember that nothing is certain in this life. Instead, we will speak the truth in love, growing in every way more and more like Christ, who is the head of his body, the church. Don’t be misled—you cannot mock the justice of God. You will always harvest what you plant. Those who lead blameless lives and do what is right,
speaking the truth from sincere hearts.
Those who refuse to gossip
or harm their neighbors
or speak evil of their friends. For every house has a builder, but the one who built everything is God. You must be holy because I, the Lord, am holy. I have set you apart from all other people to be my very own. I will walk in freedom,
for I have devoted myself to your commandments. And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord. And since we know he hears us when we make our requests, we also know that he will give us what we ask for. The Lord is my light and my salvation—
so why should I be afraid?
The Lord is my fortress, protecting me from danger,
so why should I tremble? Whatever you give is acceptable if you give it eagerly. And give according to what you have, not what you don’t have. For you are free, yet you are God’s slaves, so don’t use your freedom as an excuse to do evil. God’s way is perfect.
All the Lord’s promises prove true.
He is a shield for all who look to him for protection. You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had. But now you are free from the power of sin and have become slaves of God. Now you do those things that lead to holiness and result in eternal life. He will cover you with his feathers.
He will shelter you with his wings.
His faithful promises are your armor and protection. And then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and in the sea. They sang:
“Blessing and honor and glory and power
belong to the one sitting on the throne
and to the Lamb forever and ever.” For the grace of God has been revealed, bringing salvation to all people. And we are instructed to turn from godless living and sinful pleasures. We should live in this evil world with wisdom, righteousness, and devotion to God. My victory and honor come from God alone.
He is my refuge, a rock where no enemy can reach me. I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid. They will never again be hungry or thirsty;
they will never be scorched by the heat of the sun.
For the Lamb on the throne
will be their Shepherd.
He will lead them to springs of life-giving water.
And God will wipe every tear from their eyes. I will thank you, Lord, among all the people.
I will sing your praises among the nations. For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength. And then he told them, “Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone.” Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you.Next verse! With image
