Chinese (traditional)Be joyful in your hope. Be patient in times of affliction. Persevere in prayer. If the Lord does not build the house,
those who construct it labor in vain.
If the Lord does not guard the city,
those who keep watch over it do so in vain. For where your treasure is, there will your heart also be. A good man produces good from the store of goodness in his heart, whereas an evil man produces evil from the store of evil within him. For the mouth speaks from the abundance of the heart. Speak out and pronounce righteous judgments;
defend the rights of the wretched and the poor. Let the word of Christ with all its richness dwell in you. Teach and admonish one another in all wisdom, singing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs to God with gratitude in your hearts. But when you give alms, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing. Your almsgiving must be done in secret. And your Father who sees everything that is done in secret will reward you. Shun evil and do good;
seek peace and pursue it. One who despairs should have the support of his friends
even if he has forsaken the fear of the Almighty. Rejoice with those who rejoice; weep with those who weep. Great is the Lord and worthy of the highest praise;
no one can even begin to comprehend his greatness. Finally, find your strength in the Lord and in his mighty power. The love of the Lord is never exhausted,
nor do his deeds of mercy ever come to an end.
They are renewed every morning;
his faithfulness never ceases. Train a child in the way he should go,
and he will not deviate from it, even in old age. Who then can separate us from the love of Christ? Will hardship, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or the sword? Are you not aware that wrongdoers will never inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived! Fornicators, idolaters, adulterers, male prostitutes, sodomites, thieves, extortioners, drunkards, slanderers, swindlers—none of these will inherit the kingdom of God. Our help is in the name of the Lord,
the Maker of heaven and earth. If you confess with your lips, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Brethren, I exhort you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to be in full agreement with one another and not permit any divisions to arise among you. Be perfectly united in mind and purpose. Anxiety in the human heart weighs it down,
but a kind word makes it glad. It was for freedom that Christ set us free. Therefore, stand firm and refuse to submit again to the yoke of slavery. Those who place their hope in the Lord
will regain their strength.
They will soar as with eagles’ wings,
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not become faint. Whom do I have in heaven except you?
And besides you there is nothing else I desire on earth. But to those of you who are listening to me, I say: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. Everyone who sins breaks the law,
for sin is lawlessness. Like a city that has been breached and made defenseless
is the man devoid of self-control. Fix your thoughts on things that are above, not on things that are on the earth. The Lord is with you while you are with him. If you seek him, he will permit you to find him, but if you abandon him, he will abandon you. May God continue to bless us
and be revered to the ends of the earth. Yet even now, says the Lord,
return to me with all your heart,
with fasting, with weeping, and with mourning. Come to me, all you who are weary and overburdened, and I will give you rest. I am the gate.
Anyone who enters through me
will be saved.
He will go in and out
and will find pasture. Guard your heart with all possible vigilance,
for from it flow the wellsprings of life.Next verse!With image
