Chinese (traditional)And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul? Is anything worth more than your soul? Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up in honor. Honor the Lord with your wealth
and with the best part of everything you produce. I tell you the truth, anyone who welcomes my messenger is welcoming me, and anyone who welcomes me is welcoming the Father who sent me. Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus. From the depths of despair, O Lord,
I call for your help.
Hear my cry, O Lord.
Pay attention to my prayer. Oh, how great are God’s riches and wisdom and knowledge! How impossible it is for us to understand his decisions and his ways! And so blessing and cursing come pouring out of the same mouth. Surely, my brothers and sisters, this is not right! The tongue can bring death or life;
those who love to talk will reap the consequences. You can enter God’s Kingdom only through the narrow gate. The highway to hell is broad, and its gate is wide for the many who choose that way. But the gateway to life is very narrow and the road is difficult, and only a few ever find it. You adulterers! Don’t you realize that friendship with the world makes you an enemy of God? I say it again: If you want to be a friend of the world, you make yourself an enemy of God. Fear of the Lord is the foundation of true wisdom.
All who obey his commandments will grow in wisdom.
Praise him forever! Those who live only to satisfy their own sinful nature will harvest decay and death from that sinful nature. But those who live to please the Spirit will harvest everlasting life from the Spirit. “Can anyone hide from me in a secret place?
Am I not everywhere in all the heavens and earth?”
says the Lord. Arise, O Lord!
Punish the wicked, O God!
Do not ignore the helpless! But you, Timothy, are a man of God; so run from all these evil things. Pursue righteousness and a godly life, along with faith, love, perseverance, and gentleness. So be careful how you live. Don’t live like fools, but like those who are wise. Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days. The commandments of the Lord are right,
bringing joy to the heart.
The commands of the Lord are clear,
giving insight for living. For I am not ashamed of this Good News about Christ. It is the power of God at work, saving everyone who believes—the Jew first and also the Gentile. So humble yourselves before God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. But Lord, you remain the same forever!
Your throne continues from generation to generation. I ask you again, does God give you the Holy Spirit and work miracles among you because you obey the law? Of course not! It is because you believe the message you heard about Christ. Faith shows the reality of what we hope for; it is the evidence of things we cannot see. Whoever pursues righteousness and unfailing love
will find life, righteousness, and honor. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. But now you have been united with Christ Jesus. Once you were far away from God, but now you have been brought near to him through the blood of Christ. He will not let you stumble;
the one who watches over you will not slumber. Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil. For every child of God defeats this evil world, and we achieve this victory through our faith. For you are my hiding place;
you protect me from trouble.
You surround me with songs of victory. For his Spirit joins with our spirit to affirm that we are God’s children. And then he told them, “Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone.” O God, you are my God;
I earnestly search for you.
My soul thirsts for you;
my whole body longs for you
in this parched and weary land
where there is no water.Next verse!With image
