- Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? let him shew out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom.
- He that getteth wisdom loveth his own soul:
he that keepeth understanding shall find good. - Commit thy way unto the Lord;
trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.
And he shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light,
and thy judgment as the noonday. - Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.
- For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.
- Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.
- Do all things without murmurings and disputings: That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world; Holding forth the word of life.
- This is the day which the Lord hath made;
we will rejoice and be glad in it. - He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.
- For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.
- Behold, God is mine helper:
the Lord is with them that uphold my soul. - The heart is deceitful above all things,
and desperately wicked: who can know it?
I the Lord search the heart,
I try the reins,
even to give every man according to his ways,
and according to the fruit of his doings. - He hath made every thing beautiful in his time: also he hath set the world in their heart, so that no man can find out the work that God maketh from the beginning to the end.
- My son, forget not my law;
but let thine heart keep my commandments:
For length of days, and long life,
and peace, shall they add to thee. - In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.
- All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any.
- For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.
- Ponder the path of thy feet,
and let all thy ways be established. - Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.
- Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?
- Because thy lovingkindness is better than life,
my lips shall praise thee.
Thus will I bless thee while I live:
I will lift up my hands in thy name. - I know that there is no good in them, but for a man to rejoice, and to do good in his life. And also that every man should eat and drink, and enjoy the good of all his labour, it is the gift of God.
- Hope deferred maketh the heart sick:
but when the desire cometh, it is a tree of life. - If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
- Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.There are many devices in a man's heart;
nevertheless the counsel of the Lord, that shall stand.
