- The Lord is compassionate and gracious,
slow to anger, abounding in love. - For his anger lasts only a moment,
but his favor lasts a lifetime;
weeping may stay for the night,
but rejoicing comes in the morning. - By day the Lord directs his love,
at night his song is with me—
a prayer to the God of my life. - For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love.
