- For no one can be regarded as justified in the sight of God by keeping the Law. The Law brings only the consciousness of sin.
- My soul longs for you throughout the night,
and my spirit within me seeks your presence.
For when your judgments are revealed to the earth,
the inhabitants of the world learn to practice justice. - Come to your senses and sin no more. For some of you have no knowledge of God. I say this to your shame.
- Good and upright is the Lord;
therefore, he instructs sinners in his ways.
He guides the humble in what is right
and teaches them the path to follow. - But for you who fear my name
the sun of justice will arise
with its healing rays.
You will emerge leaping
like calves released from the stall. - If we are diligent in observing all of these commandments before the Lord, our God, as he commanded of us, then this will be our righteousness.
- Then Peter addressed them: “I now understand how true it is that God has no favorites, but that in every nation all those who fear God and do what is right are acceptable to him.”
- I have instructed you in the ways of wisdom
and led you along the paths of righteousness. - The righteous is remembered with blessings,
but the name of the wicked fades away. - And yet he is aware of everywhere I go;
if he were to test me, I would emerge like pure gold.
My footsteps have not strayed from the path he established;
I have followed his way and never turned aside. - Train a child in the way he should go,
and he will not deviate from it, even in old age. - As we proceed in the path of your judgments,
we wait for you, O Lord;
your name and your renown
are all that our heart desires. - Let those who are wise understand these words,
and let the prudent acknowledge them.
For straight are the ways of the Lord;
the upright walk in them,
but sinners stumble. - He is a rock, his deeds are perfect,
and all of his ways are just.
He is a God of truth who does no wrong;
he is just and upright. - Therefore, now I, Nebuchadnezzar,
praise and exalt and glorify
the King of heaven.
For all of his works are right,
and all of his ways are just.
Also, he is able to humble
all those who follow the path of pride. - I take no pleasure in the death of anyone, says the Lord God. Repent and live!
- The hope of the righteous brings them joy,
but the expectations of the wicked are frustrated. - The one who provides seed for sowing and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed and increase the harvest of your righteousness.
- Nor should you present any part of your body as an instrument for wickedness leading to sin. Rather, present yourselves to God as having been raised from death to life and the parts of your body to God as instruments for righteousness.
- Truly, you bless the righteous, O Lord;
you surround them with your goodwill as with a shield. - The proud man’s heart is not upright,
but the righteous man will live
because of his faith. - Let your eyes look straight ahead;
fix your gaze on what lies before you. - For he guards the paths of justice
and keeps watch over the way of his faithful ones. - I have fought the good fight; I have finished the race; I have kept the faith. Now waiting for me is the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will award to me on that Day—and not only to me, but to all those who have eagerly longed for his appearance.
- Those of you who seek to be justified by the Law have cut yourselves off from Christ and have fallen away from grace.
