When the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears and delivers them out of all their troubles. The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.The Lord hears his people when they call to him for help. He rescues them from all their troubles. Remove vexation from your heart, and put away pain from your body, for youth and the dawn of life are vanity.So refuse to worry, and keep your body healthy. But remember that youth, with a whole life before you, is meaningless.
Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep.Be happy with those who are happy, and weep with those who weep.
They shall hunger no more, neither thirst anymore; the sun shall not strike them, nor any scorching heat. For godly grief produces a repentance that leads to salvation without regret, whereas worldly grief produces death.For the kind of sorrow God wants us to experience leads us away from sin and results in salvation. There’s no regret for that kind of sorrow. But worldly sorrow, which lacks repentance, results in spiritual death.
And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.And do not bring sorrow to God’s Holy Spirit by the way you live. Remember, he has identified you as his own, guaranteeing that you will be saved on the day of redemption.
The vine dries up; the fig tree languishes. Pomegranate, palm, and apple, all the trees of the field are dried up, and gladness dries up from the children of man.The grapevines have dried up, and the fig trees have withered. The pomegranate trees, palm trees, and apple trees— all the fruit trees—have dried up. And the people’s joy has dried up with them.
Deep calls to deep at the roar of your waterfalls; all your breakers and your waves have gone over me.I hear the tumult of the raging seas as your waves and surging tides sweep over me.
