- The Lord is not slow about his promise, as some think of slowness, but is patient with you, not wanting any to perish, but all to come to repentance.

but one who is lowly in spirit will obtain honor. - But the tax collector, standing far off, would not even look up to heaven, but was beating his breast and saying, ‘God, be merciful to me, a sinner!’
- Some take pride in chariots, and some in horses,
but our pride is in the name of the Lord our God. - For once you were darkness, but now in the Lord you are light. Live as children of light.
- To set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace.
- The young lions suffer want and hunger,
but those who seek the Lord lack no good thing. - The way of the Lord is a stronghold for the upright,
but destruction for evildoers. - A gossip goes about telling secrets,
but one who is trustworthy in spirit keeps a confidence. - The hope of the righteous ends in gladness,
but the expectation of the wicked comes to nothing. - A fool takes no pleasure in understanding,
but only in expressing personal opinion. - But be doers of the word, and not merely hearers who deceive themselves.
- When they bring you to trial and hand you over, do not worry beforehand about what you are to say; but say whatever is given you at that time, for it is not you who speak, but the Holy Spirit.
- What then? Should we sin because we are not under law but under grace? By no means!
- Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain,
but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.
