Bible Verses about 'Decorate a tree'
- Gentle words are a tree of life;
a deceitful tongue crushes the spirit. - Hope deferred makes the heart sick,
but a dream fulfilled is a tree of life. - Their ways are futile and foolish.
They cut down a tree, and a craftsman carves an idol.
They decorate it with gold and silver
and then fasten it securely with hammer and nails
so it won’t fall over.
Their gods are like
helpless scarecrows in a cucumber field!
They cannot speak,
and they need to be carried because they cannot walk.
Do not be afraid of such gods,
for they can neither harm you nor do you any good. - The grapevines have dried up,
and the fig trees have withered.
The pomegranate trees, palm trees, and apple trees—
all the fruit trees—have dried up.
And the people’s joy has dried up with them. - Then God said, “Look! I have given you every seed-bearing plant throughout the earth and all the fruit trees for your food.”
- Then the Lord God said, “Look, the human beings have become like us, knowing both good and evil. What if they reach out, take fruit from the tree of life, and eat it? Then they will live forever!” So the Lord God banished them from the Garden of Eden, and he sent Adam out to cultivate the ground from which he had been made.
- Then Jesus told them, “I tell you the truth, if you have faith and don’t doubt, you can do things like this and much more. You can even say to this mountain, ‘May you be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ and it will happen.”
- Even though the fig trees have no blossoms,
and there are no grapes on the vines;
even though the olive crop fails,
and the fields lie empty and barren;
even though the flocks die in the fields,
and the cattle barns are empty,
yet I will rejoice in the Lord!
I will be joyful in the God of my salvation! - But blessed are those who trust in the Lord
and have made the Lord their hope and confidence.
They are like trees planted along a riverbank,
with roots that reach deep into the water.
Such trees are not bothered by the heat
or worried by long months of drought.
Their leaves stay green,
and they never stop producing fruit. - He personally carried our sins
in his body on the cross
so that we can be dead to sin
and live for what is right.
By his wounds
you are healed. - A wise child brings joy to a father;
a foolish child brings grief to a mother. - Your word is a lamp to guide my feet
and a light for my path. - A cheerful heart is good medicine,
but a broken spirit saps a person’s strength. - No one lights a lamp and then covers it with a bowl or hides it under a bed. A lamp is placed on a stand, where its light can be seen by all who enter the house.
- Create in me a clean heart, O God.
Renew a loyal spirit within me. - I made a covenant with my eyes
not to look with lust at a young woman. - A friend is always loyal,
and a brother is born to help in time of need. - For you, a thousand years are as a passing day,
as brief as a few night hours. - The Lord is a shelter for the oppressed,
a refuge in times of trouble. - Godliness makes a nation great,
but sin is a disgrace to any people. - Loyalty makes a person attractive.
It is better to be poor than dishonest. - You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden.
- Eloquent words are not fitting for a fool;
even less are lies fitting for a ruler. - There are “friends” who destroy each other,
but a real friend sticks closer than a brother. - A gossip goes around telling secrets,
but those who are trustworthy can keep a confidence. - For everything there is a season,
a time for every activity under heaven. - A gentle answer deflects anger,
but harsh words make tempers flare. - The man who finds a wife finds a treasure,
and he receives favor from the Lord. - The sacrifice you desire is a broken spirit.
You will not reject a broken and repentant heart, O God. - And how much more valuable is a person than a sheep! Yes, the law permits a person to do good on the Sabbath.
- An honest witness does not lie;
a false witness breathes lies. - A troublemaker plants seeds of strife;
gossip separates the best of friends. - But you must not forget this one thing, dear friends: A day is like a thousand years to the Lord, and a thousand years is like a day.
- Everyone enjoys a fitting reply;
it is wonderful to say the right thing at the right time! - Worry weighs a person down;
an encouraging word cheers a person up. - And I will give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit in you. I will take out your stony, stubborn heart and give you a tender, responsive heart.
- Fools’ words get them into constant quarrels;
they are asking for a beating. - There is a path before each person that seems right,
but it ends in death. - A person without self-control
is like a city with broken-down walls. - A fool is quick-tempered,
but a wise person stays calm when insulted. - Hiding hatred makes you a liar;
slandering others makes you a fool. - A single day in your courts
is better than a thousand anywhere else!
I would rather be a gatekeeper in the house of my God
than live the good life in the homes of the wicked. - But you are not like that, for you are a chosen people. You are royal priests, a holy nation, God’s very own possession. As a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for he called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light.
- Only a fool despises a parent’s discipline;
whoever learns from correction is wise. - Don’t trap yourself by making a rash promise to God
and only later counting the cost. - For his anger lasts only a moment,
but his favor lasts a lifetime!
Weeping may last through the night,
but joy comes with the morning. - The rich can pay a ransom for their lives,
but the poor won’t even get threatened. - Fools vent their anger,
but the wise quietly hold it back. - They stripped him and put a scarlet robe on him. They wove thorn branches into a crown and put it on his head, and they placed a reed stick in his right hand as a scepter. Then they knelt before him in mockery and taunted, “Hail! King of the Jews!”
- Live a life filled with love, following the example of Christ. He loved us and offered himself as a sacrifice for us, a pleasing aroma to God.
