- Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I send you.”
- Am I now seeking human approval, or God's approval? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still pleasing people, I would not be a servant of Christ.
- Keep these words that I am commanding you today in your heart. Recite them to your children and talk about them when you are at home and when you are away, when you lie down and when you rise.
- For I am longing to see you so that I may share with you some spiritual gift to strengthen you— or rather so that we may be mutually encouraged by each other's faith, both yours and mine.
- If you obey the commandments of the Lord your God that I am commanding you today, by loving the Lord your God, walking in his ways, and observing his commandments, decrees, and ordinances, then you shall live and become numerous, and the Lord your God will bless you in the land that you are entering to possess.
- I wait for the Lord, my soul waits,
and in his word I hope. - But who am I, and what is my people, that we should be able to make this freewill offering? For all things come from you, and of your own have we given you.
- Nevertheless I tell you the truth: it is to your advantage that I go away, for if I do not go away, the Advocate will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you.
- Now the works of the flesh are obvious: fornication, impurity, licentiousness, idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousy, anger, quarrels, dissensions, factions, envy, drunkenness, carousing, and things like these. I am warning you, as I warned you before: those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.
- I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another.
- Though an army encamp against me,
my heart shall not fear;
though war rise up against me,
yet I will be confident. - Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the prophets; I have come not to abolish but to fulfill.
- With the Lord on my side I do not fear.
What can mortals do to me? - The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.
- Then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and in the sea, and all that is in them, singing,
“To the one seated on the throne and to the Lamb
be blessing and honor and glory and might
forever and ever!” - For thus says the high and lofty one
who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy:
I dwell in the high and holy place,
and also with those who are contrite and humble in spirit,
to revive the spirit of the humble,
and to revive the heart of the contrite. - And it is no longer I who live, but it is Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
- Bless the Lord, O my soul,
and all that is within me,
bless his holy name. - In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
- Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth; I have not come to bring peace, but a sword.
- Even before a word is on my tongue,
O Lord, you know it completely. - I know what it is to have little, and I know what it is to have plenty. In any and all circumstances I have learned the secret of being well-fed and of going hungry, of having plenty and of being in need.
- Go and learn what this means, ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice.’ For I have come to call not the righteous but sinners.
- The fear of the Lord is hatred of evil.
Pride and arrogance and the way of evil
and perverted speech I hate. - Give justice to the weak and the orphan;
maintain the right of the lowly and the destitute.
