seek justice,
correct oppression;
bring justice to the fatherless,
plead the widow's cause. - But now, O Lord, you are our Father;
we are the clay, and you are our potter;
we are all the work of your hand. - And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” Then I said, “Here I am! Send me.”

O Lord, we wait for you;
your name and remembrance
are the desire of our soul. - For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts. - I have blotted out your transgressions like a cloud
and your sins like mist;
return to me, for I have redeemed you. - I, I am he who comforts you;
who are you that you are afraid of man who dies,
of the son of man who is made like grass. - Surely he has borne our griefs
and carried our sorrows;
yet we esteemed him stricken,
smitten by God, and afflicted. - Who has performed and done this,
calling the generations from the beginning?
I, the Lord, the first,
and with the last; I am he. - Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

and to gray hairs I will carry you.
I have made, and I will bear;
I will carry and will save. - Until the Spirit is poured upon us from on high,
and the wilderness becomes a fruitful field,
and the fruitful field is deemed a forest. - Because you are precious in my eyes,
and honored, and I love you,
I give men in return for you,
peoples in exchange for your life. - And you will say in that day:
“Give thanks to the Lord,
call upon his name,
make known his deeds among the peoples,
proclaim that his name is exalted.” - O Lord, you are my God;
I will exalt you; I will praise your name,
for you have done wonderful things,
plans formed of old, faithful and sure. - But he was pierced for our transgressions;
he was crushed for our iniquities;
upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace,
and with his wounds we are healed. - Fear not, for I am with you;
be not dismayed, for I am your God;
I will strengthen you, I will help you,
I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. - Is not this the fast that I choose:
to loose the bonds of wickedness,
to undo the straps of the yoke,
to let the oppressed go free,
and to break every yoke? - But they who wait for the Lord
shall renew their strength;
they shall mount up with wings like eagles;
they shall run and not be weary;
they shall walk and not faint. - He was despised and rejected by men,
a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief;
and as one from whom men hide their faces
he was despised, and we esteemed him not. - So shall my word be that goes out from my mouth;
it shall not return to me empty,
but it shall accomplish that which I purpose,
and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it. - I was ready to be sought by those who did not ask for me;
I was ready to be found by those who did not seek me.

to a nation that was not called by my name. - Come now, let us reason together, says the Lord:
though your sins are like scarlet,
they shall be as white as snow;
though they are red like crimson,
they shall become like wool. - My soul yearns for you in the night;
my spirit within me earnestly seeks you.
For when your judgments are in the earth,
the inhabitants of the world learn righteousness. - Let the wicked forsake his way,
and the unrighteous man his thoughts;
let him return to the Lord, that he may have compassion on him,
and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. - Have you not known? Have you not heard?
The Lord is the everlasting God,
the Creator of the ends of the earth.

his understanding is unsearchable. - Therefore the Lord waits to be gracious to you,
and therefore he exalts himself to show mercy to you.

blessed are all those who wait for him. - Woe to him who strives with him who formed him,
a pot among earthen pots!

are the feet of him who brings good news,
who publishes peace, who brings good news of happiness,
who publishes salvation,

then you shall take delight in the Lord,
and I will make you ride on the heights of the earth;
I will feed you with the heritage of Jacob your father,
for the mouth of the Lord has spoken.
