God gave us eternal life,

He is a God of truth who does no wrong;
he is just and upright. - Ever since the creation of the world the invisible attributes of God’s eternal power and divine nature have been clearly understood and perceived through the things he has made. Therefore, the conduct of these people is inexcusable.
- But he is to ask with faith, without doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed about by the wind.
- Without any doubt, the mystery of our religion is great:
He was made visible in the flesh,
vindicated by the Spirit,
seen by angels,
proclaimed to the Gentiles,
believed in throughout the world,
taken up in glory. - Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.
- Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life;
whoever does not believe in the Son will not see life,
but the wrath of God rests upon him. - O God, you are my God,
for whom I have been searching earnestly.
My soul yearns for you
and my body thirsts for you,
like the earth when it is parched,
arid and without water. - For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will save it.

- Let your love be sincere. Loathe what is evil and hold fast to what is good.

The good shepherd

is wealth, honor, and life. - Do not be concerned about your life and what you will have to eat, or about your body and what you will wear. For life is more than food, and the body is more than clothing.
- No one can have greater love
than to lay down his life for his friends. - Listen, my son, and take my words to heart,
and the years of your life will be multiplied. - Whoever pursues righteousness and kindness
will find life and honor too. - A wholesome tongue is a tree of life,
but an undisciplined tongue crushes the spirit. - Moses remained with the Lord for forty days and forty nights without eating bread or drinking water. And he wrote the words of the covenant, the Ten Commandments, on the tablets.
