Bible Verses about 'Money'

  • The lover of money will not be satisfied with money; nor the lover of wealth, with gain. This also is vanity.
  • Keep your lives free from the love of money, and be content with what you have; for he has said, “I will never leave you or forsake you.”
  • For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, and in their eagerness to be rich some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pains.
  • Wealth hastily gotten will dwindle,
    but those who gather little by little will increase it.
  • But those who want to be rich fall into temptation and are trapped by many senseless and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction.
  • The blessing of the Lord makes rich,
    and he adds no sorrow with it.
  • Do not wear yourself out to get rich;
    be wise enough to desist.
  • Honor the Lord with your substance
    and with the first fruits of all your produce.
  • Better is a little with the fear of the Lord
    than great treasure and trouble with it.
  • And he said to them, “Take care! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; for one's life does not consist in the abundance of possessions.”
  • For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
  • As for those who in the present age are rich, command them not to be haughty, or to set their hopes on the uncertainty of riches, but rather on God who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment.
  • Pay to all what is due them—taxes to whom taxes are due, revenue to whom revenue is due, respect to whom respect is due, honor to whom honor is due.
  • How much better to get wisdom than gold!
    To get understanding is to be chosen rather than silver.
  • But who am I, and what is my people, that we should be able to make this freewill offering? For all things come from you, and of your own have we given you.
  • No one can serve two masters; for a slave will either hate the one and love the other, or be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and wealth.
  • His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and trustworthy slave; you have been trustworthy in a few things, I will put you in charge of many things; enter into the joy of your master.’
  • When the Lord your God has blessed you, as he promised you, you will lend to many nations, but you will not borrow; you will rule over many nations, but they will not rule over you.
  • Remove far from me falsehood and lying;
    give me neither poverty nor riches;
    feed me with the food that I need.
  • What is desirable in a person is loyalty,
    and it is better to be poor than a liar.
  • For which of you, intending to build a tower, does not first sit down and estimate the cost, to see whether he has enough to complete it?
  • Better is a little that the righteous person has
    than the abundance of many wicked.
    For the arms of the wicked shall be broken,
    but the Lord upholds the righteous.
  • A good name is to be chosen rather than great riches,
    and favor is better than silver or gold.
  • When your eyes light upon it, it is gone;
    for suddenly it takes wings to itself,
    flying like an eagle toward heaven.
  • Jesus said to him, “If you wish to be perfect, go, sell your possessions, and give the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; then come, follow me.”

For the same reason you also pay taxes, for the authorities are God's servants, busy with this very thing.
