| Brethren, if anyone is detected committing a transgression, you who are spiritual must set him right in a spirit of gentleness. Meanwhile, you should take care so that you yourselves are not tempted. | Brothers, if anyone is caught in any transgression, you who are spiritual should restore him in a spirit of gentleness. | I also ask that the women should dress themselves modestly and decently in suitable clothing. | I understand that man’s greatest happiness is to be glad and do well throughout his life. And when we eat and drink and find satisfaction in all our labors, this is a gift of God. | I perceived that there is nothing better for them than to be joyful and to do good as long as they live; also that everyone should eat and drink and take pleasure in all his toil—this is God's gift to man. |
| Everything that you do should be done in love. | Let all that you do be done in love. |

| What then shall we say? Should we persist in sin in order that grace may abound? Of course not! We have died to sin. How can we live in it any longer? | What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin that grace may abound? By no means! How can we who died to sin still live in it? |
| Remember this, my beloved brethren: everyone should be quick to listen but slow to speak and slow to anger. | Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger. |
| Even if an army encamps against me, my heart will not succumb to fear; even if war breaks out against me, I will not have my trust shaken. | Though an army encamp against me, my heart shall not fear; though war arise against me, yet I will be confident. |
| By his own choice he gave us birth through the way of truth so that we may be a kind of firstfruits of all his creation. | Of his own will he brought us forth by the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures. |
| Instruct those who are rich in this world’s goods that they should not be proud, nor should they trust in the uncertainty of riches but rather in God who richly provides us with everything we need for our enjoyment. | As for the rich in this present age, charge them not to be haughty, nor to set their hopes on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly provides us with everything to enjoy. |
| Finally, all of you should be united in spirit, sympathetic, filled with love for one another, compassionate, and humble. | Finally, all of you, have unity of mind, sympathy, brotherly love, a tender heart, and a humble mind. |
| If someone among you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives to all generously and without finding fault, and it will be given to him. | If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. |
| What is man that you are mindful of him, the son of man that you care for him? | What is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that you care for him? |
| One person may consider one day to be more sacred than another, while another may judge all days to be alike. Let everyone be convinced in his own beliefs. | One person esteems one day as better than another, while another esteems all days alike. Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind. |
| For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus for a life of good works that God had prepared for us to do. | For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them. |
| This is how you should pray: ‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.’ | Pray then like this: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.” |
