- Be on guard. Stand firm in the faith. Be courageous. Be strong.
- Who are you to condemn someone else’s servants? Their own master will judge whether they stand or fall. And with the Lord’s help, they will stand and receive his approval.

The Lord keeps watch over you as you come and go,
both now and forever. - I thirst for God, the living God.
When can I go and stand before him? - Let me now remind you, dear brothers and sisters, of the Good News I preached to you before. You welcomed it then, and you still stand firm in it. It is this Good News that saves you if you continue to believe the message I told you—unless, of course, you believed something that was never true in the first place.
- You can make many plans,
but the Lord’s purpose will prevail. - No one lights a lamp and then covers it with a bowl or hides it under a bed. A lamp is placed on a stand, where its light can be seen by all who enter the house.
- This is what the Lord says:
“Stop at the crossroads and look around.
Ask for the old, godly way, and walk in it.
Travel its path, and you will find rest for your souls.
But you reply, ‘No, that’s not the road we want!’” - Stand your ground, putting on the belt of truth and the body armor of God’s righteousness. For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News so that you will be fully prepared. In addition to all of these, hold up the shield of faith to stop the fiery arrows of the devil.
- Listen to my voice in the morning, Lord.
Each morning I bring my requests to you and wait expectantly. - The very essence of your words is truth;
all your just regulations will stand forever. - So be on your guard, not asleep like the others. Stay alert and be clearheaded.
- The grass withers and the flowers fade,
but the word of our God stands forever. - And now I make one more appeal, my dear brothers and sisters. Watch out for people who cause divisions and upset people’s faith by teaching things contrary to what you have been taught. Stay away from them.
- The eyes of the Lord watch over those who do right;
his ears are open to their cries for help. - The Lord says, “I will guide you along the best pathway for your life.
I will advise you and watch over you.” - O Lord, you have examined my heart
and know everything about me.
You know when I sit down or stand up.
You know my thoughts even when I’m far away. - Unless the Lord builds a house,
the work of the builders is wasted.
Unless the Lord protects a city,
guarding it with sentries will do no good. - Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour.
- No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.
- As they strained to see him rising into heaven, two white-robed men suddenly stood among them. “Men of Galilee,” they said, “why are you standing here staring into heaven? Jesus has been taken from you into heaven, but someday he will return from heaven in the same way you saw him go!”
- The more you have, the more people come to help you spend it. So what good is wealth—except perhaps to watch it slip through your fingers!
- The eyes of the Lord watch over those who do right,
and his ears are open to their prayers.
But the Lord turns his face
against those who do evil. - But God has protected me right up to this present time so I can testify to everyone, from the least to the greatest. I teach nothing except what the prophets and Moses said would happen— that the Messiah would suffer and be the first to rise from the dead, and in this way announce God’s light to Jews and Gentiles alike.
- As for me, I look to the Lord for help.
I wait confidently for God to save me,
and my God will certainly hear me. - A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer. Three are even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken.
- For you are the children of your father the devil, and you love to do the evil things he does. He was a murderer from the beginning. He has always hated the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, it is consistent with his character; for he is a liar and the father of lies.
- The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure.
- But when you are arrested and stand trial, don’t worry in advance about what to say. Just say what God tells you at that time, for it is not you who will be speaking, but the Holy Spirit.
- Devote yourselves to prayer with an alert mind and a thankful heart.
- Mark out a straight path for your feet;
stay on the safe path. - He alone is my rock and my salvation,
my fortress where I will not be shaken. - You must keep my Sabbath days of rest and show reverence for my sanctuary. I am the Lord.
- Dear brothers and sisters, if another believer is overcome by some sin, you who are godly should gently and humbly help that person back onto the right path. And be careful not to fall into the same temptation yourself.
- He alone is my rock and my salvation,
my fortress where I will never be shaken. - Guard your heart above all else,
for it determines the course of your life. - The end of the world is coming soon. Therefore, be earnest and disciplined in your prayers.
- So, my dear brothers and sisters, be strong and immovable. Always work enthusiastically for the Lord, for you know that nothing you do for the Lord is ever useless.
- He guards the paths of the just
and protects those who are faithful to him.
