Chinese (traditional)If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land. Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness? Better a little with the fear of the Lord
than great wealth with turmoil. Taste and see that the Lord is good;
blessed is the one who takes refuge in him. “But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?” Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.” Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins. For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. The commandments, “You shall not commit adultery,” “You shall not murder,” “You shall not steal,” “You shall not covet,” and whatever other command there may be, are summed up in this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” And if you do good to those who are good to you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners do that. My soul yearns for you in the night;
in the morning my spirit longs for you.
When your judgments come upon the earth,
the people of the world learn righteousness. To do what is right and just
is more acceptable to the Lord than sacrifice. Make every effort to live in peace with everyone and to be holy; without holiness no one will see the Lord. Look to the Lord and his strength;
seek his face always. Those who are in the realm of the flesh cannot please God. The end of all things is near. Therefore be alert and of sober mind so that you may pray. Make sure that nobody pays back wrong for wrong, but always strive to do what is good for each other and for everyone else. He humbled you, causing you to hunger and then feeding you with manna, which neither you nor your ancestors had known, to teach you that man does not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord. For this is what the Lord has commanded us:
“I have made you a light for the Gentiles,
that you may bring salvation to the ends of the earth.” Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. As the deer pants for streams of water,
so my soul pants for you, my God. “Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the Lord Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it.” A person may think their own ways are right,
but the Lord weighs the heart. Yes, Lord, walking in the way of your laws,
we wait for you;
your name and renown
are the desire of our hearts. Be still before the Lord
and wait patiently for him;
do not fret when people succeed in their ways,
when they carry out their wicked schemes. Take delight in the Lord,
and he will give you the desires of your heart. I delight greatly in the Lord;
my soul rejoices in my God.
For he has clothed me with garments of salvation
and arrayed me in a robe of his righteousness,
as a bridegroom adorns his head like a priest,
and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of. But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God’s holy people. And now, dear children, continue in him, so that when he appears we may be confident and unashamed before him at his coming. Who is he, this King of glory?
The Lord Almighty—
he is the King of glory.
