Chinese (traditional)For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever! Love prospers when a fault is forgiven,
but dwelling on it separates close friends. Now if you will obey me and keep my covenant, you will be my own special treasure from among all the peoples on earth; for all the earth belongs to me. Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up in honor. Finally, I confessed all my sins to you
and stopped trying to hide my guilt.
I said to myself, “I will confess my rebellion to the Lord.”
And you forgave me! All my guilt is gone. Don’t you realize that those who do wrong will not inherit the Kingdom of God? Don’t fool yourselves. Those who indulge in sexual sin, or who worship idols, or commit adultery, or are male prostitutes, or practice homosexuality, or are thieves, or greedy people, or drunkards, or are abusive, or cheat people—none of these will inherit the Kingdom of God. Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus. The wise are glad to be instructed,
but babbling fools fall flat on their faces. Always be joyful. Never stop praying. Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus. As for me, I look to the Lord for help.
I wait confidently for God to save me,
and my God will certainly hear me. Lead me by your truth and teach me,
for you are the God who saves me.
All day long I put my hope in you. “Listen to me and make up your minds to honor my name,” says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies, “or I will bring a terrible curse against you. I will curse even the blessings you receive. Indeed, I have already cursed them, because you have not taken my warning to heart.” They replied, “Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved, along with everyone in your household.” Whom have I in heaven but you?
I desire you more than anything on earth. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light. I say to myself, “The Lord is my inheritance;
therefore, I will hope in him!” Gentle words are a tree of life;
a deceitful tongue crushes the spirit. God will do this, for he is faithful to do what he says, and he has invited you into partnership with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. But for you who fear my name, the Sun of Righteousness will rise with healing in his wings. And you will go free, leaping with joy like calves let out to pasture. My child, don’t reject the Lord’s discipline,
and don’t be upset when he corrects you.
For the Lord corrects those he loves,
just as a father corrects a child in whom he delights. So be careful how you live. Don’t live like fools, but like those who are wise. Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days. So remember this and keep it firmly in mind: The Lord is God both in heaven and on earth, and there is no other. Honor the Lord with your wealth
and with the best part of everything you produce. So we can say with confidence,
“The Lord is my helper,
so I will have no fear.
What can mere people do to me?” You say, “I am allowed to do anything”—but not everything is good for you. And even though “I am allowed to do anything,” I must not become a slave to anything. The righteous person faces many troubles,
but the Lord comes to the rescue each time. Then God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. Faith shows the reality of what we hope for; it is the evidence of things we cannot see. Don’t envy violent people
or copy their ways.
Such wicked people are detestable to the Lord,
but he offers his friendship to the godly. Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil. Don’t be misled—you cannot mock the justice of God. You will always harvest what you plant. If I gave everything I have to the poor and even sacrificed my body, I could boast about it; but if I didn’t love others, I would have gained nothing.Next verse!With image
