Chinese (traditional)God blesses those who mourn,
for they will be comforted. But when you ask him, be sure that your faith is in God alone. Do not waver, for a person with divided loyalty is as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is blown and tossed by the wind. With their words, the godless destroy their friends,
but knowledge will rescue the righteous. The Lord is good,
a strong refuge when trouble comes.
He is close to those who trust in him. He sat down, called the twelve disciples over to him, and said, “Whoever wants to be first must take last place and be the servant of everyone else.” It is better to take refuge in the Lord
than to trust in people. But the Lord said to Samuel, “Don’t judge by his appearance or height, for I have rejected him. The Lord doesn’t see things the way you see them. People judge by outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” We love each other because he loved us first. In the blink of an eye wealth disappears,
for it will sprout wings
and fly away like an eagle. In view of all this, make every effort to respond to God’s promises. Supplement your faith with a generous provision of moral excellence, and moral excellence with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with patient endurance, and patient endurance with godliness, and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love for everyone. You must serve only the Lord your God. If you do, I will bless you with food and water, and I will protect you from illness. Those who love your instructions have great peace
and do not stumble. But now you must be holy in everything you do, just as God who chose you is holy.
For the Scriptures say, “You must be holy because I am holy.” O Lord, I will honor and praise your name,
for you are my God.
You do such wonderful things!
You planned them long ago,
and now you have accomplished them. There are “friends” who destroy each other,
but a real friend sticks closer than a brother. Do not love this world nor the things it offers you, for when you love the world, you do not have the love of the Father in you. Anyone who wants to serve me must follow me, because my servants must be where I am. And the Father will honor anyone who serves me. I will praise you, Lord, with all my heart;
I will tell of all the marvelous things you have done. Don’t be concerned for your own good but for the good of others. All honor and glory to God forever and ever! He is the eternal King, the unseen one who never dies; he alone is God. Amen. All who fear the Lord will hate evil.
Therefore, I hate pride and arrogance,
corruption and perverse speech. For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever! So we can say with confidence,
“The Lord is my helper,
so I will have no fear.
What can mere people do to me?” The righteous person faces many troubles,
but the Lord comes to the rescue each time. Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. If you obey all the decrees and commands I am giving you today, all will be well with you and your children. I am giving you these instructions so you will enjoy a long life in the land the Lord your God is giving you for all time. The Lord is compassionate and merciful,
slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love. Always be joyful. Never stop praying. Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus. God blesses you when people mock you and persecute you and lie about you and say all sorts of evil things against you because you are my followers. A gentle answer deflects anger,
but harsh words make tempers flare. But test everything that is said. Hold on to what is good. Stay away from every kind of evil. He has removed our sins as far from us
as the east is from the west. The Lord will stay with you as long as you stay with him! Whenever you seek him, you will find him. But if you abandon him, he will abandon you.Next verse! With image
