Chinese (traditional)Then there appeared to them tongues as of fire, which separated and came to rest on each one of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in different languages, as the Spirit enabled them to do so. And I will ask the Father,
and he will give you another Advocate
to be with you forever. I will make haste and not delay
to observe your precepts. You shall not hate your brother in your heart, nor shall you rebuke your brother in any way, lest you bear sin because of him. You shall not seek vengeance nor bear a grudge against the children of your people. You shall love your neighbor as yourself. I am the Lord. Everything that you do should be done in love. Blessed is the person who has found wisdom,
the one who has gained understanding. Seek the Lord and his strength,
seek his face continually. If someone among you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives to all generously and without finding fault, and it will be given to him. Have mercy on me, O God,
in accord with your kindness;
in your abundant compassion
wipe away my offenses.
Wash me completely from my guilt,
and cleanse me from my sin. God’s love was revealed to us in this way:
God sent his only-begotten Son into the world
so that we might have life through him. Then, after he had spoken to them, the Lord Jesus was taken up into heaven, and there he took his place at the right hand of God. Even a fool who keeps silent is considered wise;
if he closes his lips, he is regarded as intelligent. I have told you this
so that in me you may be in peace.
In the world
you will endure suffering.
But take courage!
I have overcome the world. Finally, all of you should be united in spirit, sympathetic, filled with love for one another, compassionate, and humble. Let everything that breathes
offer praise to the Lord.
Alleluia. And whatever you do in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. Do not seek to adorn yourself externally—by the braiding of your hair and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothing. Rather, let your adornment be of your inner self, the imperishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is precious in the sight of God. Every word of God has proved to be true;
he is a shield to those who trust in him. Therefore, brethren, I implore you by the mercies of God to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice that is holy and acceptable to God—a spiritual act of worship. So I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. The earth is the Lord’s and everything in it,
the world and all who live in it. You shall not kill. You shall not commit adultery. You shall not steal. You shall not bear false witness. Honor your father and your mother. Love your neighbor as yourself. May the Lord guide your hearts to the love of God and the steadfastness of Christ. An honorable name is more to be desired than great riches,
and high esteem is preferable to silver and gold. Hence, I advise you to be guided by the Spirit, so that you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. In the beginning was the Word,
and the Word was with God,
and the Word was God. O God, you are my God,
for whom I have been searching earnestly.
My soul yearns for you
and my body thirsts for you,
like the earth when it is parched,
arid and without water. Whoever does not love
does not know God,
because God is love. The Lord will battle for you. Be calm! Then you will understand equity and justice
as well as righteousness—every good path. But if we hope for what we do not yet see, then we wait for it with patience. As far as the east is from the west,
so far has he removed our transgressions from us. Rather, be kind to one another and compassionate, and forgive one another as God has forgiven you in Christ.Next verse!With image
