Chinese (traditional)I do not treat the grace of God as meaningless. For if keeping the law could make us right with God, then there was no need for Christ to die. Suppose you sin by violating one of the Lord’s commands. Even if you are unaware of what you have done, you are guilty and will be punished for your sin. “Come now, let’s settle this,”
says the Lord.
“Though your sins are like scarlet,
I will make them as white as snow.
Though they are red like crimson,
I will make them as white as wool.” No one lights a lamp and then covers it with a bowl or hides it under a bed. A lamp is placed on a stand, where its light can be seen by all who enter the house. Remember this—a farmer who plants only a few seeds will get a small crop. But the one who plants generously will get a generous crop. I have chosen to be faithful;
I have determined to live by your regulations. My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. So faith comes from hearing, that is, hearing the Good News about Christ. People who accept discipline are on the pathway to life,
but those who ignore correction will go astray. God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. Fear the Lord and judge with integrity, for the Lord our God does not tolerate perverted justice, partiality, or the taking of bribes. It is better to take refuge in the Lord
than to trust in people. But now you have been united with Christ Jesus. Once you were far away from God, but now you have been brought near to him through the blood of Christ. Jesus looked at them intently and said, “Humanly speaking, it is impossible. But with God everything is possible.” For just as the heavens are higher than the earth,
so my ways are higher than your ways
and my thoughts higher than your thoughts. Love does no wrong to others, so love fulfills the requirements of God’s law. Now he is exalted to the place of highest honor in heaven, at God’s right hand. And the Father, as he had promised, gave him the Holy Spirit to pour out upon us, just as you see and hear today. The righteous person faces many troubles,
but the Lord comes to the rescue each time. For you have been given not only the privilege of trusting in Christ but also the privilege of suffering for him. If you cling to your life, you will lose it; but if you give up your life for me, you will find it. Arise, Jerusalem! Let your light shine for all to see.
For the glory of the Lord rises to shine on you. Can anything ever separate us from Christ’s love? Does it mean he no longer loves us if we have trouble or calamity, or are persecuted, or hungry, or destitute, or in danger, or threatened with death? Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing. Trust in the Lord and do good.
Then you will live safely in the land and prosper. Instead, clothe yourself with the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ. And don’t let yourself think about ways to indulge your evil desires. And the Lord our God commanded us to obey all these decrees and to fear him so he can continue to bless us and preserve our lives, as he has done to this day. Fools vent their anger,
but the wise quietly hold it back. And the Lord will be king over all the earth. On that day there will be one Lord—his name alone will be worshiped. Jesus responded, “Didn’t I tell you that you would see God’s glory if you believe?” Since he did not spare even his own Son but gave him up for us all, won’t he also give us everything else? In his kindness God called you to share in his eternal glory by means of Christ Jesus. So after you have suffered a little while, he will restore, support, and strengthen you, and he will place you on a firm foundation.Next verse!With image
