- Return, faithless Israel,
says the Lord.
I will not look on you in anger,
for I am merciful,
says the Lord;
I will not be angry forever. - For I will be merciful toward their iniquities,
and I will remember their sins no more. - Nevertheless, in your great mercies you did not make an end of them or forsake them, for you are a gracious and merciful God.
- Happy are those whose transgression is forgiven,
whose sin is covered. - But when he heard this, he said, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick.”
- He has rescued us from the power of darkness and transferred us into the kingdom of his beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.
- Come now, let us argue it out,
says the Lord:
though your sins are like scarlet,
they shall be like snow;
though they are red like crimson,
they shall become like wool. - Whoever speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come.
- Therefore I tell you, people will be forgiven for every sin and blasphemy, but blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven.
- He will again have compassion upon us;
he will tread our iniquities under foot.
You will cast all our sins
into the depths of the sea. - Then Jesus said, “Father, forgive them; for they do not know what they are doing.” And they cast lots to divide his clothing.
- Take words with you
and return to the Lord;
say to him,
“Take away all guilt;
accept that which is good,
and we will offer
the fruit of our lips.” - Then he took a cup, and after giving thanks he gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you; for this is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.”
- Indeed, under the law almost everything is purified with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sins.
- All the prophets testify about him that everyone who believes in him receives forgiveness of sins through his name.
- When God saw what they did, how they turned from their evil ways, God changed his mind about the calamity that he had said he would bring upon them; and he did not do it.
