- The Lord is good,
a strong refuge when trouble comes.
He is close to those who trust in him. - Therefore, since we have been made right in God’s sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us.
- For God called you to do good, even if it means suffering, just as Christ suffered for you. He is your example, and you must follow in his steps.
- And the Father who knows all hearts knows what the Spirit is saying, for the Spirit pleads for us believers in harmony with God’s own will.
- Oh, how great are God’s riches and wisdom and knowledge! How impossible it is for us to understand his decisions and his ways!
- Give your burdens to the Lord,
and he will take care of you.
He will not permit the godly to slip and fall. - For we know that when this earthly tent we live in is taken down (that is, when we die and leave this earthly body), we will have a house in heaven, an eternal body made for us by God himself and not by human hands.
- For the more we suffer for Christ, the more God will shower us with his comfort through Christ.
- And God has given us his Spirit as proof that we live in him and he in us.
- No one has ever seen God. But if we love each other, God lives in us, and his love is brought to full expression in us.
- Dear friends, let us continue to love one another, for love comes from God. Anyone who loves is a child of God and knows God.
- For a child is born to us,
a son is given to us.
The government will rest on his shoulders.
And he will be called:
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. - For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.
- Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us.
- But it was to us that God revealed these things by his Spirit. For his Spirit searches out everything and shows us God’s deep secrets.
- But God is so rich in mercy, and he loved us so much, that even though we were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead. (It is only by God’s grace that you have been saved!)
- For God saved us and called us to live a holy life. He did this, not because we deserved it, but because that was his plan from before the beginning of time—to show us his grace through Christ Jesus.
- But now Jesus, our High Priest, has been given a ministry that is far superior to the old priesthood, for he is the one who mediates for us a far better covenant with God, based on better promises.
- Not to us, O Lord, not to us,
but to your name goes all the glory
for your unfailing love and faithfulness. - Turn us again to yourself, O Lord God of Heaven’s Armies.
Make your face shine down upon us.
Only then will we be saved. - Praise the Lord; praise God our savior!
For each day he carries us in his arms. - So then, since Christ suffered physical pain, you must arm yourselves with the same attitude he had, and be ready to suffer, too. For if you have suffered physically for Christ, you have finished with sin.
- Yes, God will bless us,
and people all over the world will fear him. - And don’t let us yield to temptation,
but rescue us from the evil one. - And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love.
