- But he was wounded for our transgressions,
crushed for our iniquities;
upon him was the punishment that made us whole,
and by his bruises we are healed. - For so the Lord has commanded us, saying,
‘I have set you to be a light for the Gentiles,
so that you may bring salvation to the ends of the earth.’ - Do not worry about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
- For we are what he has made us, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand to be our way of life.
- Each of you must give as you have made up your mind, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
- Remember the sabbath day, and keep it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work. But the seventh day is a sabbath to the Lord your God; you shall not do any work—you, your son or your daughter, your male or female slave, your livestock, or the alien resident in your towns. For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but rested the seventh day; therefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day and consecrated it.
- And the rib that the Lord God had taken from the man he made into a woman and brought her to the man. Then the man said,
“This at last is bone of my bones
and flesh of my flesh;
this one shall be called Woman,
for out of Man this one was taken.”
Therefore a man leaves his father and his mother and clings to his wife, and they become one flesh. - For one believes with the heart and so is justified, and one confesses with the mouth and so is saved.
- I hurry and do not delay
to keep your commandments. - One sabbath he was going through the grainfields; and as they made their way his disciples began to pluck heads of grain. The Pharisees said to him, “Look, why are they doing what is not lawful on the sabbath?” And he said to them, “Have you never read what David did when he and his companions were hungry and in need of food? He entered the house of God, when Abiathar was high priest, and ate the bread of the Presence, which it is not lawful for any but the priests to eat, and he gave some to his companions.” Then he said to them, “The sabbath was made for humankind, and not humankind for the sabbath; so the Son of Man is lord even of the sabbath.”
- I, I am he who comforts you;
why then are you afraid of a mere mortal who must die,
a human being who fades like grass? - A generous person will be enriched,
and one who gives water will get water. - There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear; for fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not reached perfection in love.
- While Peter was kept in prison, the church prayed fervently to God for him.
- Now John wore clothing of camel's hair with a leather belt around his waist, and his food was locusts and wild honey.
- Nothing is covered up that will not be uncovered, and nothing secret that will not become known.
- No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God lives in us, and his love is perfected in us.
