Maketh (2/3)

A gentle answer deflects anger, but harsh words make tempers flare.A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.
Remember, you must not make any idols of silver or gold to rival me.Do not make any gods to be alongside me; do not make for yourselves gods of silver or gods of gold.
God places the lonely in families; he sets the prisoners free and gives them joy. But he makes the rebellious live in a sun-scorched land.God sets the lonely in families, he leads out the prisoners with singing; but the rebellious live in a sun-scorched land.
Come and listen to my counsel. I’ll share my heart with you and make you wise.Repent at my rebuke! Then I will pour out my thoughts to you, I will make known to you my teachings.
“Come now, let’s settle this,” says the Lord. “Though your sins are like scarlet, I will make them as white as snow. Though they are red like crimson, I will make them as white as wool.”“Come now, let us settle the matter,” says the Lord. “Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool.”
Sing to the Lord, for he has done wonderful things. Make known his praise around the world.Sing to the Lord, for he has done glorious things; let this be known to all the world.
So you have not received a spirit that makes you fearful slaves. Instead, you received God’s Spirit when he adopted you as his own children. Now we call him, “Abba, Father.”The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.”
Make every effort to keep yourselves united in the Spirit, binding yourselves together with peace.Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.
And since we know he hears us when we make our requests, we also know that he will give us what we ask for.And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him.
This Good News tells us how God makes us right in his sight. This is accomplished from start to finish by faith. As the Scriptures say, “It is through faith that a righteous person has life.”For in the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed—a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: “The righteous will live by faith.”
Then the Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper who is just right for him.”The Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.”
The human body has many parts, but the many parts make up one whole body. So it is with the body of Christ.Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ.
So all of us who have had that veil removed can see and reflect the glory of the Lord. And the Lord—who is the Spirit—makes us more and more like him as we are changed into his glorious image. And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.
So Christ has truly set us free. Now make sure that you stay free, and don’t get tied up again in slavery to the law.It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.
Turn us again to yourself, O Lord God of Heaven’s Armies. Make your face shine down upon us. Only then will we be saved.Restore us, Lord God Almighty; make your face shine on us, that we may be saved.
For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. Yet God, in his grace, freely makes us right in his sight. He did this through Christ Jesus when he freed us from the penalty for our sins. For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.
What sorrow awaits those who argue with their Creator. Does a clay pot argue with its maker? Does the clay dispute with the one who shapes it, saying, ‘Stop, you’re doing it wrong!’ Does the pot exclaim, ‘How clumsy can you be?’Woe to those who quarrel with their Maker, those who are nothing but potsherds among the potsherds on the ground. Does the clay say to the potter, ‘What are you making?’ Does your work say, ‘The potter has no hands’?
Jesus replied, “All who love me will do what I say. My Father will love them, and we will come and make our home with each of them.”Jesus replied, “Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them.”
And may the Lord make your love for one another and for all people grow and overflow, just as our love for you overflows.May the Lord make your love increase and overflow for each other and for everyone else, just as ours does for you.
Make allowance for each other’s faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others.Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.
So be careful how you live. Don’t live like fools, but like those who are wise. Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days.Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.
He gave his life to free us from every kind of sin, to cleanse us, and to make us his very own people, totally committed to doing good deeds.Who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good.
Indeed, we all make many mistakes. For if we could control our tongues, we would be perfect and could also control ourselves in every other way.We all stumble in many ways. Anyone who is never at fault in what they say is perfect, able to keep their whole body in check.
Be careful then, dear brothers and sisters. Make sure that your own hearts are not evil and unbelieving, turning you away from the living God.See to it, brothers and sisters, that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God.
I do not treat the grace of God as meaningless. For if keeping the law could make us right with God, then there was no need for Christ to die.I do not set aside the grace of God, for if righteousness could be gained through the law, Christ died for nothing!

For if you are trying to make yourselves right with God by keeping the law, you have been cut off from Christ! You have fallen away from God’s grace. You who are trying to be justified by the law have been alienated from Christ; you have fallen away from grace.

Bible verse of the day

Where is another God like you,
who pardons the guilt of the remnant,
overlooking the sins of his special people?
You will not stay angry with your people forever,
because you delight in showing unfailing love.
