Own (3/4)

  • Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people: for all the earth is mine.
  • The Lord will perfect that which concerneth me:
    thy mercy, O Lord, endureth for ever:
    forsake not the works of thine own hands.
  • If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man's religion is vain.
  • Exhort servants to be obedient unto their own masters, and to please them well in all things; not answering again; Not purloining, but shewing all good fidelity; that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Saviour in all things.
  • He that keepeth the commandment keepeth his own soul;
    but he that despiseth his ways shall die.
  • Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as it is fit in the Lord. Husbands, love your wives, and be not bitter against them.
  • My son, if thine heart be wise,
    my heart shall rejoice, even mine.
  • A man's heart deviseth his way:
    but the Lord directeth his steps.
  • And now, Israel, what doth the Lord thy God require of thee, but to fear the Lord thy God, to walk in all his ways, and to love him, and to serve the Lord thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul, To keep the commandments of the Lord, and his statutes, which I command thee this day for thy good?
  • For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.
  • For if ye throughly amend your ways and your doings; if ye throughly execute judgment between a man and his neighbour; If ye oppress not the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow, and shed not innocent blood in this place, neither walk after other gods to your hurt: Then will I cause you to dwell in this place, in the land that I gave to your fathers, for ever and ever.
  • Thine own friend, and thy father's friend, forsake not;
    neither go into thy brother's house in the day of thy calamity:
    for better is a neighbour that is near than a brother far off.
  • And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man's life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth.
  • For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
  • The integrity of the upright shall guide them:
    but the perverseness of transgressors shall destroy them.
  • He that keepeth his mouth keepeth his life:
    but he that openeth wide his lips shall have destruction.
  • Thou shalt also consider in thine heart, that, as a man chasteneth his son, so the Lord thy God chasteneth thee.
  • Wherefore thou art great, O Lord God: for there is none like thee, neither is there any God beside thee, according to all that we have heard with our ears.
  • Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband.
  • And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.
  • And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.
  • As sorrowful, yet alway rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, and yet possessing all things.
  • Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God.
  • Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost.
  • And when he had called the people unto him with his disciples also, he said unto them, Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.

Surely he hath borne our griefs,
and carried our sorrows:
yet we did esteem him stricken,
smitten of God, and afflicted.
