Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows.
Also unto thee, O Lord, belongeth mercy: for thou renderest to every man according to his work.“And with you, Lord, is unfailing love”; and, “You reward everyone according to what they have done.”
Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel; But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes. Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight.
But if the wicked will turn from all his sins that he hath committed, and keep all my statutes, and do that which is lawful and right, he shall surely live, he shall not die.But if a wicked person turns away from all the sins they have committed and keeps all my decrees and does what is just and right, that person will surely live; they will not die.
Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the Lord delivereth him out of them all.The righteous person may have many troubles, but the Lord delivers him from them all.
Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath. My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry.
Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver. Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God.If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in them and they in God.
If thy brother trespass against thee, rebuke him; and if he repent, forgive him. And if he trespass against thee seven times in a day, and seven times in a day turn again to thee, saying, I repent; thou shalt forgive him.If your brother or sister sins against you, rebuke them; and if they repent, forgive them. Even if they sin against you seven times in a day and seven times come back to you saying ‘I repent,’ you must forgive them.
Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.
We who are Jews by nature, and not sinners of the Gentiles, Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified. We who are Jews by birth and not sinful Gentiles know that a person is not justified by the works of the law, but by faith in Jesus Christ. So we, too, have put our faith in Christ Jesus that we may be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law, because by the works of the law no one will be justified.
For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous. For just as through the disobedience of the one man the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one man the many will be made righteous.
If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man's religion is vain. Those who consider themselves religious and yet do not keep a tight rein on their tongues deceive themselves, and their religion is worthless.
For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body.We all stumble in many ways. Anyone who is never at fault in what they say is perfect, able to keep their whole body in check.
For if there be first a willing mind, it is accepted according to that a man hath, and not according to that he hath not.For if the willingness is there, the gift is acceptable according to what one has, not according to what one does not have.
But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more. But the one who does not know and does things deserving punishment will be beaten with few blows. From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked.
He answereth and saith unto them, He that hath two coats, let him impart to him that hath none; and he that hath meat, let him do likewise.John answered, “Anyone who has two shirts should share with the one who has none, and anyone who has food should do the same.”
He that turneth away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer shall be abomination. If anyone turns a deaf ear to my instruction, even their prayers are detestable.
Who will render to every man according to his deeds.God “will repay each person according to what they have done.”
Again, I considered all travail, and every right work, that for this a man is envied of his neighbour. This is also vanity and vexation of spirit. And I saw that all toil and all achievement spring from one person’s envy of another. This too is meaningless, a chasing after the wind.
But whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person?
If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour.Whoever serves me must follow me; and where I am, my servant also will be. My Father will honor the one who serves me.
And the Lord said unto Satan, Behold, all that he hath is in thy power; only upon himself put not forth thine hand. So Satan went forth from the presence of the Lord. The Lord said to Satan, “Very well, then, everything he has is in your power, but on the man himself do not lay a finger.” Then Satan went out from the presence of the Lord.
Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother. If your brother or sister sins, go and point out their fault, just between the two of you. If they listen to you, you have won them over.
