  • God said, “Let there be light!” And there was light.
  • Philip said to him, “Lord, show us the Father, it will be enough for us.”
  • “Peace be with you,” Jesus said to them again.
“As the Father has sent me,
    so I send you.”
  • He said to them, “Come, follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.”
  • Then he said to them, “Go forth into the whole world and proclaim the gospel to all creation.”
  • When Jesus heard this, he said, “It is not the healthy who need a physician, but rather those who are sick.”
  • Jesus looked at them and said, “For men this is impossible, but for God all things are possible.”
  • When Jesus had taken the wine, he said, “It is finished.” Then he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.
  • And the Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I wish to make another creature who will be like him.”

    “I will remain with you
only for a short time longer,
    and then I shall return
    to him who sent me.”

    as Scripture has said,
    ‘Streams of living water
    shall flow from within him.’

  • Then he said to all who were with him, “Anyone who wishes to follow me must deny himself, take up his cross daily, and follow me.”
  • Jesus looked at them and said, “For men it is impossible, but not for God. For God all things are possible.”
  • But the angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid! I know that you are looking for Jesus who was crucified. He is not here, for he has been raised, as he promised he would be. Come and see the place where he lay.”
  • He cried out, “Father, into your hands I commend my spirit.” And with these words he breathed his last.
  • Jesus said to him, “Go on your way! Your faith has made you well.” Immediately, he received his sight and followed him along the road.
  • But Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them. For it is to such as these that the kingdom of heaven belongs.”
  • After he said this, he was lifted up as they looked on, and a cloud took him from their sight.
  • Do not succumb to the love of money, but be content with what you have, for God has said, “I will never forsake you or abandon you.”
  • After this, he said to the crowd, “Take care to be on your guard against all kinds of greed. Life does not depend upon an abundance of one’s possessions.”
  • Paul said, “John baptized with the baptism of repentance, telling the people to believe in the one who was to come after him, that is, Jesus.”

Then he sat down, summoned the Twelve, and said to them, “If anyone wishes to be first, he must become the last of all and the servant of all.”
