- And while they were there, the time came for her baby to be born. She gave birth to her firstborn son. She wrapped him snugly in strips of cloth and laid him in a manger, because there was no lodging available for them.

protect and comfort me. - The Lord your God will bless you as he has promised. You will lend money to many nations but will never need to borrow. You will rule many nations, but they will not rule over you.

- We all come to the end of our lives as naked and empty-handed as on the day we were born. We can’t take our riches with us.
- They traded the truth about God for a lie. So they worshiped and served the things God created instead of the Creator himself, who is worthy of eternal praise! Amen. That is why God abandoned them to their shameful desires. Even the women turned against the natural way to have sex and instead indulged in sex with each other. And the men, instead of having normal sexual relations with women, burned with lust for each other. Men did shameful things with other men, and as a result of this sin, they suffered within themselves the penalty they deserved. Since they thought it foolish to acknowledge God, he abandoned them to their foolish thinking and let them do things that should never be done.
- This is how Jesus the Messiah was born. His mother, Mary, was engaged to be married to Joseph. But before the marriage took place, while she was still a virgin, she became pregnant through the power of the Holy Spirit.

- Unfailing love, O Lord, is yours.
Surely you repay all people
according to what they have done. - Yes, speak up for the poor and helpless,
and see that they get justice. - The rich think of their wealth as a strong defense;
they imagine it to be a high wall of safety. - I will bless my people and their homes around my holy hill. And in the proper season I will send the showers they need. There will be showers of blessing.
- You must not exploit a widow or an orphan. If you exploit them in any way and they cry out to me, then I will certainly hear their cry. My anger will blaze against you, and I will kill you with the sword. Then your wives will be widows and your children fatherless.
- Fools’ words get them into constant quarrels;
they are asking for a beating. - I saw the dead, both great and small, standing before God’s throne. And the books were opened, including the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to what they had done, as recorded in the books. The sea gave up its dead, and death and the grave gave up their dead. And all were judged according to their deeds.
- In the same way, husbands ought to love their wives as they love their own bodies. For a man who loves his wife actually shows love for himself.
- Don’t be like your ancestors who would not listen or pay attention when the earlier prophets said to them, ‘This is what the Lord of Heaven’s Armies says: Turn from your evil ways, and stop all your evil practices.’
- Fools have no interest in understanding;
they only want to air their own opinions. - No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.
- Yes, I am the gate. Those who come in through me will be saved. They will come and go freely and will find good pastures.
- So if someone tells you, ‘Look, the Messiah is out in the desert,’ don’t bother to go and look. Or, ‘Look, he is hiding here,’ don’t believe it! For as the lightning flashes in the east and shines to the west, so it will be when the Son of Man comes.
- If one person falls, the other can reach out and help. But someone who falls alone is in real trouble.
- Beware of false prophets who come disguised as harmless sheep but are really vicious wolves.
