- For while bodily training is of some value, godliness is of value in every way, as it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come.
- So Peter was kept in prison, but earnest prayer for him was made to God by the church.
- For I decided to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ and him crucified.
- But Peter said, “Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and to keep back for yourself part of the proceeds of the land? While it remained unsold, did it not remain your own? And after it was sold, was it not at your disposal? Why is it that you have contrived this deed in your heart? You have not lied to man but to God.”
- Because your steadfast love is better than life,
my lips will praise you.
So I will bless you as long as I live;
in your name I will lift up my hands. - As we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.
- Now as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and after blessing it broke it and gave it to the disciples, and said, “Take, eat; this is my body.”
- One's pride will bring him low,
but he who is lowly in spirit will obtain honor. - Be angry and do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger, and give no opportunity to the devil.

in the land of the living! - And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.

- The Lord will fight for you, and you have only to be silent.

“return to me with all your heart,
with fasting, with weeping, and with mourning.” - Now when all the people were baptized, and when Jesus also had been baptized and was praying, the heavens were opened, and the Holy Spirit descended on him in bodily form, like a dove; and a voice came from heaven, “You are my beloved Son; with you I am well pleased.”
- So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith.
- If anyone thinks he is religious and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his heart, this person's religion is worthless.
- In the day of prosperity be joyful, and in the day of adversity consider: God has made the one as well as the other, so that man may not find out anything that will be after him.
- Then the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from trials, and to keep the unrighteous under punishment until the day of judgment.
- Remember also your Creator in the days of your youth, before the evil days come and the years draw near of which you will say, “I have no pleasure in them”.
- For when I kept silent, my bones wasted away

- For the moment all discipline seems painful rather than pleasant, but later it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.
- All day long he craves and craves,
but the righteous gives and does not hold back. - Who builds his upper chambers in the heavens
and founds his vault upon the earth;
who calls for the waters of the sea
and pours them out upon the surface of the earth—
the Lord is his name. - In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.
- I am the true vine, and my Father is the vinedresser. Every branch in me that does not bear fruit he takes away, and every branch that does bear fruit he prunes, that it may bear more fruit.
- The words of a wise man's mouth win him favor,
but the lips of a fool consume him. - I perceived that there is nothing better for them than to be joyful and to do good as long as they live; also that everyone should eat and drink and take pleasure in all his toil—this is God's gift to man.
- Now the birth of Jesus Christ took place in this way. When his mother Mary had been betrothed to Joseph, before they came together she was found to be with child from the Holy Spirit.
- The times of ignorance God overlooked, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent.
