- For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come.

in the land of the living. - Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.

- When times are good, be happy; but when times are bad, consider this: God has made the one as well as the other. Therefore, no one can discover anything about their future.
- If this is so, then the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from trials and to hold the unrighteous for punishment on the day of judgment.
