- Look! He comes with the clouds of heaven.
And everyone will see him—
even those who pierced him.
And all the nations of the world
will mourn for him.
Yes! Amen! - But among you it will be different. Whoever wants to be a leader among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first among you must become your slave.
- It is the same with my word.
I send it out, and it always produces fruit.
It will accomplish all I want it to,
and it will prosper everywhere I send it. - Watch out that you do not lose what we have worked so hard to achieve. Be diligent so that you receive your full reward.
- No one can know a person’s thoughts except that person’s own spirit, and no one can know God’s thoughts except God’s own Spirit.
- In the same way, husbands ought to love their wives as they love their own bodies. For a man who loves his wife actually shows love for himself.
- But when you are praying, first forgive anyone you are holding a grudge against, so that your Father in heaven will forgive your sins, too.
- So whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.
- You can ask for anything in my name, and I will do it, so that the Son can bring glory to the Father.
- I have told you these things so that you will be filled with my joy. Yes, your joy will overflow!
- Do not deprive each other of sexual relations, unless you both agree to refrain from sexual intimacy for a limited time so you can give yourselves more completely to prayer. Afterward, you should come together again so that Satan won’t be able to tempt you because of your lack of self-control.
- O Lord, you are so good, so ready to forgive,
so full of unfailing love for all who ask for your help. - So let us do our best to enter that rest. But if we disobey God, as the people of Israel did, we will fall.
- But those who do what is right come to the light so others can see that they are doing what God wants.
- No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.
- And so I tell you, keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you.
- For I long to visit you so I can bring you some spiritual gift that will help you grow strong in the Lord. When we get together, I want to encourage you in your faith, but I also want to be encouraged by yours.
- If I had the gift of prophecy, and if I understood all of God’s secret plans and possessed all knowledge, and if I had such faith that I could move mountains, but didn’t love others, I would be nothing.
- Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil.
- So again I say, each man must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.
- Bring your confessions, and return to the Lord.
Say to him,
“Forgive all our sins and graciously receive us,
so that we may offer you our praises.” - So humble yourselves under the mighty power of God, and at the right time he will lift you up in honor.
- Then, by the will of God, I will be able to come to you with a joyful heart, and we will be an encouragement to each other.
- Never let loyalty and kindness leave you!
Tie them around your neck as a reminder.
Write them deep within your heart.
Then you will find favor with both God and people,
and you will earn a good reputation. - In the same way, wisdom is sweet to your soul.
If you find it, you will have a bright future,
and your hopes will not be cut short.
