| Neither have I gone back from the commandment of his lips; I have esteemed the words of his mouth more than my necessary food. | I have not strayed from the commandments of his lips; I have treasured in my heart the words of his mouth. |
| But he knoweth the way that I take: when he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold. My foot hath held his steps, his way have I kept, and not declined. | And yet he is aware of everywhere I go; if he were to test me, I would emerge like pure gold. My footsteps have not strayed from the path he established; I have followed his way and never turned aside. |
| Touching the Almighty, we cannot find him out: he is excellent in power, and in judgment, and in plenty of justice: he will not afflict. | But the Almighty we cannot find; he is unequaled in power and judgment, and in his righteousness he will not violate justice. |
| Then Job arose, and rent his mantle, and shaved his head, and fell down upon the ground, and worshipped, And said, Naked came I out of my mother's womb, and naked shall I return thither: the Lord gave, and the Lord hath taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord. | Then Job arose, tore his cloak, and shaved his head. | Behold, happy is the man whom God correcteth: therefore despise not thou the chastening of the Almighty. | Blessed is the man whom God reproves. Therefore, do not reject the discipline of the Almighty. |
| And the Lord turned the captivity of Job, when he prayed for his friends: also the Lord gave Job twice as much as he had before. | Thereupon the Lord restored the prosperity of Job after he had prayed for his friends, and he enriched him with twice as much as he had possessed before. |
