Life (2/6)

  • To get wisdom is to love oneself;
    to keep understanding is to prosper.
  • In the day of prosperity be joyful, and in the day of adversity consider; God has made the one as well as the other, so that mortals may not find out anything that will come after them.
  • Commit your way to the Lord;
    trust in him, and he will act.
    He will make your vindication shine like the light,
    and the justice of your cause like the noonday.
  • So do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring worries of its own. Today's trouble is enough for today.
  • For those who want to save their life will lose it, and those who lose their life for my sake will find it.
  • Let no one despise your youth, but set the believers an example in speech and conduct, in love, in faith, in purity.
  • Do all things without murmuring and arguing, so that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, in which you shine like stars in the world. It is by your holding fast to the word of life.
  • This is the day that the Lord has made;
    let us rejoice and be glad in it.
  • Those who find their life will lose it, and those who lose their life for my sake will find it.
  • The heart is devious above all else;
    it is perverse—
    who can understand it?
    I the Lord test the mind
    and search the heart,
    to give to all according to their ways,
    according to the fruit of their doings.
  • For we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.
  • My child, do not forget my teaching,
    but let your heart keep my commandments;
    for length of days and years of life
    and abundant welfare they will give you.
  • But surely, God is my helper;
    the Lord is the upholder of my life.
  • God's love was revealed among us in this way: God sent his only Son into the world so that we might live through him.
  • Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing?
  • “All things are lawful for me,” but not all things are beneficial. “All things are lawful for me,” but I will not be dominated by anything.
  • He has made everything suitable for its time; moreover he has put a sense of past and future into their minds, yet they cannot find out what God has done from the beginning to the end.
  • For as all die in Adam, so all will be made alive in Christ.
  • For to me, living is Christ and dying is gain.
  • Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
  • Blessed is anyone who endures temptation. Such a one has stood the test and will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.
  • If we live by the Spirit, let us also be guided by the Spirit.
  • You are the light of the world. A city built on a hill cannot be hid.
  • Because your steadfast love is better than life,
    my lips will praise you.
    So I will bless you as long as I live;
    I will lift up my hands and call on your name.
  • But he said, “Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it!”

You show me the path of life.
In your presence there is fullness of joy;
in your right hand are pleasures forevermore.
