- After Job had prayed for his friends, the Lord restored his fortunes and gave him twice as much as he had before.
- He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.”
- For by one sacrifice he has made perfect forever those who are being made holy.
- Start children off on the way they should go,
and even when they are old they will not turn from it. - He was despised and rejected by mankind,
a man of suffering, and familiar with pain.
Like one from whom people hide their faces
he was despised, and we held him in low esteem. - And he took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me.”
- As far as the east is from the west,
so far has he removed our transgressions from us. - Let those who love the Lord hate evil,
for he guards the lives of his faithful ones
and delivers them from the hand of the wicked. - In Hades, where he was in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham far away, with Lazarus by his side. So he called to him, ‘Father Abraham, have pity on me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, because I am in agony in this fire.’
- And, once made perfect, he became the source of eternal salvation for all who obey him.
- I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful.
- Moses was there with the Lord forty days and forty nights without eating bread or drinking water. And he wrote on the tablets the words of the covenant—the Ten Commandments.
- The Lord is good,
a refuge in times of trouble.
He cares for those who trust in him. - When tempted, no one should say, “God is tempting me.” For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone.
- He replied, “Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it.”
- Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when Christ appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is. All who have this hope in him purify themselves, just as he is pure.
- Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord,
the people he chose for his inheritance. - Everyone comes naked from their mother’s womb,
and as everyone comes, so they depart.
They take nothing from their toil
that they can carry in their hands. - Sing to the Lord, for he has done glorious things;
let this be known to all the world. - The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven.
- Whoever claims to love God yet hates a brother or sister is a liar. For whoever does not love their brother and sister, whom they have seen, cannot love God, whom they have not seen.
- Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time.
- For the Lord is our judge,
the Lord is our lawgiver,
the Lord is our king;
it is he who will save us. - And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him.
- Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows.
For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him. The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.Next verse!With image
