Bible Verses about 'Like'
- But let justice roll on like a river,
righteousness like a never-failing stream! - There is no one holy like the Lord;
there is no one besides you;
there is no Rock like our God. - Let my teaching fall like rain
and my words descend like dew,
like showers on new grass,
like abundant rain on tender plants. - A thousand years in your sight
are like a day that has just gone by,
or like a watch in the night. - I have swept away your offenses like a cloud,
your sins like the morning mist.
Return to me,
for I have redeemed you. - And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’
- “Come now, let us settle the matter,”
says the Lord.
“Though your sins are like scarlet,
they shall be as white as snow;
though they are red as crimson,
they shall be like wool.” - Like a city whose walls are broken through
is a person who lacks self-control. - I spread out my hands to you;
I thirst for you like a parched land. - But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day.
- Place me like a seal over your heart,
like a seal on your arm;
for love is as strong as death,
its jealousy unyielding as the grave.
It burns like blazing fire,
like a mighty flame. - But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind.
- The Sovereign Lord is my strength;
he makes my feet like the feet of a deer,
he enables me to tread on the heights. - How great you are, Sovereign Lord! There is no one like you, and there is no God but you, as we have heard with our own ears.
- The words of a gossip are like choice morsels;
they go down to the inmost parts. - Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.
- Cast but a glance at riches, and they are gone,
for they will surely sprout wings
and fly off to the sky like an eagle. - Commit your way to the Lord;
trust in him and he will do this:
He will make your righteous reward shine like the dawn,
your vindication like the noonday sun. - Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation.
- But for you who revere my name, the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its rays. And you will go out and frolic like well-fed calves.
- For you, God, tested us;
you refined us like silver. - Who is a God like you,
who pardons sin and forgives the transgression
of the remnant of his inheritance?
You do not stay angry forever
but delight to show mercy. - Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.
- But those who hope in the Lord
will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint. - The wealth of the rich is their fortified city;
they imagine it a wall too high to scale. - Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong.
- Believers in humble circumstances ought to take pride in their high position. But the rich should take pride in their humiliation—since they will pass away like a wild flower.
- Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when Christ appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is. All who have this hope in him purify themselves, just as he is pure.
- Gracious words are a honeycomb,
sweet to the soul and healing to the bones. - The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.
- When all the people were being baptized, Jesus was baptized too. And as he was praying, heaven was opened and the Holy Spirit descended on him in bodily form like a dove. And a voice came from heaven: “You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased.”
- Do not be like your ancestors, to whom the earlier prophets proclaimed: This is what the Lord Almighty says: ‘Turn from your evil ways and your evil practices.’ But they would not listen or pay attention to me, declares the Lord.
- But the gift is not like the trespass. For if the many died by the trespass of the one man, how much more did God’s grace and the gift that came by the grace of the one man, Jesus Christ, overflow to the many!
- For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we will certainly also be united with him in a resurrection like his. For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body ruled by sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin.
- Finally, all of you, be like-minded, be sympathetic, love one another, be compassionate and humble.
- I, even I, am he who comforts you.
Who are you that you fear mere mortals,
human beings who are but grass. - So then, let us not be like others, who are asleep, but let us be awake and sober.
- When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting.
- I want to know Christ—yes, to know the power of his resurrection and participation in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death.
- As a father has compassion on his children,
so the Lord has compassion on those who fear him. - It is God’s will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality; that each of you should learn to control your own body in a way that is holy and honorable, not in passionate lust like the pagans, who do not know God.
- The tongue of the righteous is choice silver,
but the heart of the wicked is of little value. - A cheerful heart is good medicine,
but a crushed spirit dries up the bones. - And the Lord God said, “The man has now become like one of us, knowing good and evil. He must not be allowed to reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life and eat, and live forever.” So the Lord God banished him from the Garden of Eden to work the ground from which he had been taken.
- The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.
- For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your ancestors, but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect.
- But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord,
whose confidence is in him.
They will be like a tree planted by the water
that sends out its roots by the stream.
It does not fear when heat comes;
its leaves are always green.
It has no worries in a year of drought
and never fails to bear fruit. - Hear my prayer, Lord,
listen to my cry for help;
do not be deaf to my weeping.
I dwell with you as a foreigner,
a stranger, as all my ancestors were. - And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words.
- The one who is victorious will, like them, be dressed in white. I will never blot out the name of that person from the book of life, but will acknowledge that name before my Father and his angels.
