Now an intermediary implies more than one, but God is one. | Now a mediator is helpful if more than one party must reach an agreement. But God, who is one, did not use a mediator when he gave his promise to Abraham. |
Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. | Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me. |
As a deer pants for flowing streams, so pants my soul for you, O God. | As the deer longs for streams of water, so I long for you, O God. |
For it is you who light my lamp; the Lord my God lightens my darkness. | You light a lamp for me. The Lord, my God, lights up my darkness. |
Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. | Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a loyal spirit within me. |
Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased! | Glory to God in highest heaven, and peace on earth to those with whom God is pleased. |
Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God. | Everyone must submit to governing authorities. For all authority comes from God, and those in positions of authority have been placed there by God. |
