- Even fools are thought wise if they keep silent,
and discerning if they hold their tongues. - Whoever is patient has great understanding,
but one who is quick-tempered displays folly. - Blessed are those who find wisdom,
those who gain understanding. - For with much wisdom comes much sorrow;
the more knowledge, the more grief. - The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge,
but fools despise wisdom and instruction. - Know also that wisdom is like honey for you:
If you find it, there is a future hope for you,
and your hope will not be cut off. - The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom,
and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. - I instruct you in the way of wisdom
and lead you along straight paths. - Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God!
How unsearchable his judgments,
and his paths beyond tracing out! - Walk with the wise and become wise,
for a companion of fools suffers harm. - Get wisdom, get understanding;
do not forget my words or turn away from them. - The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom;
all who follow his precepts have good understanding.
To him belongs eternal praise. - Words from the mouth of the wise are gracious,
but fools are consumed by their own lips. - My goal is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ.
- The law of the Lord is perfect,
refreshing the soul.
The statutes of the Lord are trustworthy,
making wise the simple. - My son, if your heart is wise,
then my heart will be glad indeed. - One person considers one day more sacred than another; another considers every day alike. Each of them should be fully convinced in their own mind.
- With their mouths the godless destroy their neighbors,
but through knowledge the righteous escape. - Fools give full vent to their rage,
but the wise bring calm in the end. - The lips of fools bring them strife,
and their mouths invite a beating. - Repent at my rebuke!
Then I will pour out my thoughts to you,
I will make known to you my teachings. - The father of a righteous child has great joy;
a man who fathers a wise son rejoices in him. - Fools show their annoyance at once,
but the prudent overlook an insult. - A fool spurns a parent’s discipline,
but whoever heeds correction shows prudence. - Many will be purified, made spotless and refined, but the wicked will continue to be wicked. None of the wicked will understand, but those who are wise will understand.
A wise son brings joy to his father,
but a foolish son brings grief to his mother.For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.Next verse!With image
