- I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better.
- The beginning of wisdom is this: Get wisdom.
Though it cost all you have, get understanding. - For with much wisdom comes much sorrow;
the more knowledge, the more grief. - Blessed are those who find wisdom,
those who gain understanding. - The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge,
but fools despise wisdom and instruction. - The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom,
and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. - Know also that wisdom is like honey for you:
If you find it, there is a future hope for you,
and your hope will not be cut off. - I instruct you in the way of wisdom
and lead you along straight paths. - Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God!
How unsearchable his judgments,
and his paths beyond tracing out! - Get wisdom, get understanding;
do not forget my words or turn away from them. - Words from the mouth of the wise are gracious,
but fools are consumed by their own lips. - Walk with the wise and become wise,
for a companion of fools suffers harm. - One person considers one day more sacred than another; another considers every day alike. Each of them should be fully convinced in their own mind.
- The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom;
all who follow his precepts have good understanding.
To him belongs eternal praise. - My goal is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ.
- With their mouths the godless destroy their neighbors,
but through knowledge the righteous escape. - The law of the Lord is perfect,
refreshing the soul.
The statutes of the Lord are trustworthy,
making wise the simple. - My son, if your heart is wise,
then my heart will be glad indeed. - The lips of fools bring them strife,
and their mouths invite a beating. - Fools give full vent to their rage,
but the wise bring calm in the end. - The father of a righteous child has great joy;
a man who fathers a wise son rejoices in him. - A fool spurns a parent’s discipline,
but whoever heeds correction shows prudence. - Fools show their annoyance at once,
but the prudent overlook an insult. - Repent at my rebuke!
Then I will pour out my thoughts to you,
I will make known to you my teachings. - Many will be purified, made spotless and refined, but the wicked will continue to be wicked. None of the wicked will understand, but those who are wise will understand.
