Chinese (traditional)So if I, your Lord and Teacher,
have washed your feet,
you also should wash one another’s feet. A patient man shows good sense,
but a quick-tempered man displays the height of folly. Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life;
whoever does not believe in the Son will not see life,
but the wrath of God rests upon him. Everyone who seeks a prize submits himself to rigorous self-discipline in every respect. They do so to win a perishable crown, while we seek an imperishable one. You are a place of refuge for me;
you preserve me from trouble
and surround me with songs of deliverance. Selah Blessed are those who trust in the Lord
and whose hope is the Lord.
They will be like a tree planted by the water
that spreads out its roots to the stream.
When the heat comes, it does not fear;
its leaves stay green.
It is not concerned in a year of drought,
and it never fails to bear fruit. No one can serve two masters. For you will either hate the one and love the other or be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money. He has satisfied the thirsty
and filled the hungry with good things. For we brought nothing into this world, and we can take nothing out. If we have food and clothing, let us be content with these. For everything that is in the world—
the concupiscence of the flesh,
the concupiscence of the eyes,
and the pride of life—
comes not from the Father
but from the world. The fear of the Lord implies hatred of evil;
I hate pride and arrogance,
evil ways and perverse speech. And do not lead us into temptation,
but deliver us from the evil one. While physical training has some value, the benefits of godliness are unlimited, since it holds out promise not only for this life but also for the life to come. Do not let kindness and fidelity leave you;
fasten them around your neck
and inscribe them on the tablet of your heart.
Then you will gain favor and a good name
in the sight of God and man. By this is my Father glorified,
that you bear much fruit
and become my disciples. Then Nehemiah added: “You now may go. Eat rich food and drink what is sweet. Moreover, send some of these to those for whom nothing has been prepared, for this day is holy to our Lord. Furthermore, do not be grieved, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.” Guide my steps in accord with your word
and never let evil triumph over me. In the same way, even the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know how to pray as we should, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with sighs that cannot be put into words. For everyone born of God
conquers the world.
And the victory that conquers the world
is our faith. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom,
and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. If you forgive others for the wrongs they have done, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. I will not leave you orphans;
I will come to you. Reflect on the Lord and his strength;
seek his face continually. Fix your thoughts on things that are above, not on things that are on the earth. And forgive us our debts
as we forgive our debtors. The Lord is merciful and gracious,
slow to anger and abounding in kindness. I have not strayed from the commandments of his lips;
I have treasured in my heart the words of his mouth. Therefore, rid yourselves of everything sordid and of every wicked excess, and welcome in all humility the word that is implanted in you and is able to save your souls. For in the one Spirit we were all baptized into one body, Jews as well as Greeks, slaves as well as free men, and we were all given the same Spirit to drink. He alone is my rock and my salvation,
my fortress, so that I stand ever unshaken. Anyone who has received my commandments
and observes them
is the one who loves me.
And whoever loves me
will be loved by my Father,
and I will love him
and reveal myself to him. Do not be deceived; God cannot be mocked. A person will reap only what he sows. Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified of them, for the Lord, your God, is going forth with you. He will never leave you or abandon you.Next verse!With image
