Chinese (traditional)“Yes,” Jesus replied, “and I assure you that everyone who has given up house or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or property, for my sake and for the Good News, will receive now in return a hundred times as many houses, brothers, sisters, mothers, children, and property—along with persecution. And in the world to come that person will have eternal life.” Stay on the path that the Lord your God has commanded you to follow. Then you will live long and prosperous lives in the land you are about to enter and occupy. Even when I walk
through the darkest valley,
I will not be afraid,
for you are close beside me.
Your rod and your staff
protect and comfort me. Make allowance for each other’s faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others. But now you have been united with Christ Jesus. Once you were far away from God, but now you have been brought near to him through the blood of Christ. That is why I can never stop praising you;
I declare your glory all day long. Don’t store up treasures here on earth, where moths eat them and rust destroys them, and where thieves break in and steal. Store your treasures in heaven, where moths and rust cannot destroy, and thieves do not break in and steal. This is a trustworthy saying:
If we die with him,
we will also live with him. My future is in your hands.
Rescue me from those who hunt me down relentlessly. For since we believe that Jesus died and was raised to life again, we also believe that when Jesus returns, God will bring back with him the believers who have died. Because we have these promises, dear friends, let us cleanse ourselves from everything that can defile our body or spirit. And let us work toward complete holiness because we fear God. The Lord is more pleased when we do what is right and just
than when we offer him sacrifices. When you go through deep waters,
I will be with you.
When you go through rivers of difficulty,
you will not drown.
When you walk through the fire of oppression,
you will not be burned up;
the flames will not consume you. And we know that the Son of God has come, and he has given us understanding so that we can know the true God. And now we live in fellowship with the true God because we live in fellowship with his Son, Jesus Christ. He is the only true God, and he is eternal life. The heavens proclaim the glory of God.
The skies display his craftsmanship.
Day after day they continue to speak;
night after night they make him known. Don’t be afraid, for I am with you.
Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you.
I will hold you up with my victorious right hand. Then Jesus shouted, “Father, I entrust my spirit into your hands!” And with those words he breathed his last. Look at the proud!
They trust in themselves, and their lives are crooked.
But the righteous will live by their faithfulness to God. There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is our merciful Father and the source of all comfort. He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us. It is better to be godly and have little
than to be evil and rich.
For the strength of the wicked will be shattered,
but the Lord takes care of the godly. “Listen,” he said, “we’re going up to Jerusalem, where the Son of Man will be betrayed to the leading priests and the teachers of religious law. They will sentence him to die. Then they will hand him over to the Romans to be mocked, flogged with a whip, and crucified. But on the third day he will be raised from the dead.” And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others. Victory comes from you, O Lord.
May you bless your people. He will judge everyone according to what they have done. But if you look carefully into the perfect law that sets you free, and if you do what it says and don’t forget what you heard, then God will bless you for doing it. But the Lord will redeem those who serve him.
No one who takes refuge in him will be condemned. And we are confident that he hears us whenever we ask for anything that pleases him. But you are to be perfect, even as your Father in heaven is perfect. How wonderful and pleasant it is
when brothers live together in harmony! Don’t be misled—you cannot mock the justice of God. You will always harvest what you plant.
