Chinese (traditional)Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near. I have told you these things so that you will be filled with my joy. Yes, your joy will overflow! How great is the goodness
you have stored up for those who fear you.
You lavish it on those who come to you for protection,
blessing them before the watching world. You can pray for anything, and if you have faith, you will receive it. Peter replied, “Each of you must repent of your sins and turn to God, and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. Then you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.” Commit your actions to the Lord,
and your plans will succeed. We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation. May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all. Kind words are like honey—
sweet to the soul and healthy for the body. But consider the joy of those corrected by God!
Do not despise the discipline of the Almighty when you sin. Jesus looked at them intently and said, “Humanly speaking, it is impossible. But with God everything is possible.” Never abandon a friend—
either yours or your father’s.
When disaster strikes, you won’t have to ask your brother for assistance.
It’s better to go to a neighbor than to a brother who lives far away. Now repent of your sins and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped away. Give, and you will receive. Your gift will return to you in full—pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, running over, and poured into your lap. The amount you give will determine the amount you get back. Everyone enjoys a fitting reply;
it is wonderful to say the right thing at the right time! So we are lying if we say we have fellowship with God but go on living in spiritual darkness; we are not practicing the truth. If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me. My health may fail, and my spirit may grow weak,
but God remains the strength of my heart;
he is mine forever. Around midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening. For I long to visit you so I can bring you some spiritual gift that will help you grow strong in the Lord. When we get together, I want to encourage you in your faith, but I also want to be encouraged by yours. I look up to the mountains—
does my help come from there?
My help comes from the Lord,
who made heaven and earth! Imitate God, therefore, in everything you do, because you are his dear children. For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many. I lift my hands to you in prayer.
I thirst for you as parched land thirsts for rain. Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives. If you are wise and understand God’s ways, prove it by living an honorable life, doing good works with the humility that comes from wisdom. Who can find a virtuous and capable wife?
She is more precious than rubies. And do not bring sorrow to God’s Holy Spirit by the way you live. Remember, he has identified you as his own, guaranteeing that you will be saved on the day of redemption. Yet what we suffer now is nothing compared to the glory he will reveal to us later. He will not let you stumble;
the one who watches over you will not slumber. He has removed our sins as far from us
as the east is from the west.
