- But the one who endures to the end will be saved.
- You call me ‘Teacher’ and ‘Lord,’ and you are right, because that’s what I am.

The Lord of Heaven’s Armies—
he is the King of glory. - Not at all! And you will perish, too, unless you repent of your sins and turn to God.
- If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me.
- Then keep your tongue from speaking evil
and your lips from telling lies! - Joyful is the person who finds wisdom,
the one who gains understanding. - Instead, I want to see a mighty flood of justice,
an endless river of righteous living. - Kind words are like honey—
sweet to the soul and healthy for the body. - Pride leads to conflict;
those who take advice are wise. - The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it.
The world and all its people belong to him. - There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.
- So be strong and courageous,
all you who put your hope in the Lord! - And don’t let us yield to temptation,
but rescue us from the evil one. - Love does no wrong to others, so love fulfills the requirements of God’s law.
- The rich can pay a ransom for their lives,
but the poor won’t even get threatened. - Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples.
- Hope deferred makes the heart sick,
but a dream fulfilled is a tree of life. - Walk with the wise and become wise;
associate with fools and get in trouble. - So after more fasting and prayer, the men laid their hands on them and sent them on their way.
- You also must be ready all the time, for the Son of Man will come when least expected.
- And God has given us his Spirit as proof that we live in him and he in us.
- There are “friends” who destroy each other,
but a real friend sticks closer than a brother. - The father of godly children has cause for joy.
What a pleasure to have children who are wise. - The Lord is like a father to his children,
tender and compassionate to those who fear him. - Yet I am confident I will see the Lord’s goodness
while I am here in the land of the living. - A gossip goes around telling secrets,
but those who are trustworthy can keep a confidence. - You can ask for anything in my name, and I will do it, so that the Son can bring glory to the Father.
- Wealth from get-rich-quick schemes quickly disappears;
wealth from hard work grows over time. - You haven’t done this before. Ask, using my name, and you will receive, and you will have abundant joy.
- And since I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other’s feet.
- Those who control their tongue will have a long life;
opening your mouth can ruin everything. - If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake, you will save it.
- I tell you, you can pray for anything, and if you believe that you’ve received it, it will be yours.
