- If another member of the church sins against you, go and point out the fault when the two of you are alone. If the member listens to you, you have regained that one.
- Fools show their anger at once,
but the prudent ignore an insult. - A gossip goes about telling secrets,
but one who is trustworthy in spirit keeps a confidence. - Just as water reflects the face,
so one human heart reflects another. - To make an apt answer is a joy to anyone,
and a word in season, how good it is! - All deeds are right in the sight of the doer,
but the Lord weighs the heart. - The blessing of the Lord makes rich,
and he adds no sorrow with it. - Jesus said to him, “If you are able!—All things can be done for the one who believes.”
- They who have my commandments and keep them are those who love me; and those who love me will be loved by my Father, and I will love them and reveal myself to them.
- The memory of the righteous is a blessing,
but the name of the wicked will rot. - If the member refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church; and if the offender refuses to listen even to the church, let such a one be to you as a Gentile and a tax collector.
- Conduct yourselves wisely toward outsiders, making the most of the time. Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer everyone.
- Are any among you sick? They should call for the elders of the church and have them pray over them, anointing them with oil in the name of the Lord. The prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise them up; and anyone who has committed sins will be forgiven.
- My friends, if anyone is detected in a transgression, you who have received the Spirit should restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness. Take care that you yourselves are not tempted.
- If any of you sin without knowing it, doing any of the things that by the Lord's commandments ought not to be done, you have incurred guilt, and are subject to punishment.
- One who is slow to anger is better than the mighty,
and one whose temper is controlled than one who captures a city. - By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God. And this is the spirit of the antichrist, of which you have heard that it is coming; and now it is already in the world.
- Pay to all what is due them—taxes to whom taxes are due, revenue to whom revenue is due, respect to whom respect is due, honor to whom honor is due.
- The wicked earn no real gain,
but those who sow righteousness get a true reward. - For by the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think of yourself more highly than you ought to think, but to think with sober judgment, each according to the measure of faith that God has assigned.
- This means understanding that the law is laid down not for the innocent but for the lawless and disobedient, for the godless and sinful, for the unholy and profane, for those who kill their father or mother, for murderers, fornicators, sodomites, slave traders, liars, perjurers, and whatever else is contrary to the sound teaching that conforms to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, which he entrusted to me.
- Everyone then who hears these words of mine and acts on them will be like a wise man who built his house on rock.
- All scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, so that everyone who belongs to God may be proficient, equipped for every good work.
- For if they fall, one will lift up the other; but woe to one who is alone and falls and does not have another to help.
- No testing has overtaken you that is not common to everyone. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tested beyond your strength, but with the testing he will also provide the way out so that you may be able to endure it.
