Chinese (traditional)But Lord, you remain the same forever!
Your throne continues from generation to generation. No, O people, the Lord has told you what is good,
and this is what he requires of you:
to do what is right, to love mercy,
and to walk humbly with your God. Oh, how great are God’s riches and wisdom and knowledge! How impossible it is for us to understand his decisions and his ways! Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples. I will praise you, Lord, with all my heart;
I will tell of all the marvelous things you have done. Always be joyful. Never stop praying. Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus. In this way, God qualified him as a perfect High Priest, and he became the source of eternal salvation for all those who obey him. Charm is deceptive, and beauty does not last;
but a woman who fears the Lord will be greatly praised. That’s the whole story. Here now is my final conclusion: Fear God and obey his commands, for this is everyone’s duty. But those who do what is right come to the light so others can see that they are doing what God wants. But you, O Lord, are a shield around me;
you are my glory, the one who holds my head high. If the world hates you, remember that it hated me first. And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul? Is anything worth more than your soul? An honest witness does not lie;
a false witness breathes lies. If you refuse to take up your cross and follow me, you are not worthy of being mine. Do not love this world nor the things it offers you, for when you love the world, you do not have the love of the Father in you. Unfailing love, O Lord, is yours.
Surely you repay all people
according to what they have done. So humble yourselves before God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light. “Can anyone hide from me in a secret place?
Am I not everywhere in all the heavens and earth?”
says the Lord. Don’t be concerned for your own good but for the good of others. Faith shows the reality of what we hope for; it is the evidence of things we cannot see. He will not let you stumble;
the one who watches over you will not slumber. For Christ has already accomplished the purpose for which the law was given. As a result, all who believe in him are made right with God. He personally carried our sins
in his body on the cross
so that we can be dead to sin
and live for what is right.
By his wounds
you are healed. When a crime is not punished quickly, people feel it is safe to do wrong. And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For example, we don’t know what God wants us to pray for. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words. For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever! People who conceal their sins will not prosper,
but if they confess and turn from them, they will receive mercy. Watch out that you do not lose what we have worked so hard to achieve. Be diligent so that you receive your full reward. Such love has no fear, because perfect love expels all fear. If we are afraid, it is for fear of punishment, and this shows that we have not fully experienced his perfect love. He is the one all the prophets testified about, saying that everyone who believes in him will have their sins forgiven through his name. Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise.Next verse!With image
