Law (3/5)

  • I will never forget your precepts,
    for by them you have given me life.
  • You who want to be justified by the law have cut yourselves off from Christ; you have fallen away from grace.
  • Hear, O Israel: The Lord is our God, the Lord alone. You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your might.
  • The law of the Lord is perfect,
    reviving the soul;
    the decrees of the Lord are sure,
    making wise the simple.
  • The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom;
    all those who practice it have a good understanding.
    His praise endures forever.
  • And a second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’
  • You shall not make wrongful use of the name of the Lord your God, for the Lord will not acquit anyone who misuses his name.
  • Turn my heart to your decrees,
    and not to selfish gain.
  • Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the prophets; I have come not to abolish but to fulfill.
  • The sum of your word is truth;
    and every one of your righteous ordinances endures forever.
  • We ourselves are Jews by birth and not Gentile sinners; yet we know that a person is justified not by the works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ. And we have come to believe in Christ Jesus, so that we might be justified by faith in Christ, and not by doing the works of the law, because no one will be justified by the works of the law.
  • For this is the message you have heard from the beginning, that we should love one another.
  • If any of you sin without knowing it, doing any of the things that by the Lord's commandments ought not to be done, you have incurred guilt, and are subject to punishment.
  • Everyone who commits sin is guilty of lawlessness; sin is lawlessness.
  • They who have my commandments and keep them are those who love me; and those who love me will be loved by my Father, and I will love them and reveal myself to them.
  • I do not nullify the grace of God; for if justification comes through the law, then Christ died for nothing.
  • I the Lord am your God; follow my statutes, and be careful to observe my ordinances, and hallow my sabbaths that they may be a sign between me and you, so that you may know that I the Lord am your God.
  • I will praise you with an upright heart,
    when I learn your righteous ordinances.
  • Thus you shall keep my commandments and observe them: I am the Lord.
  • The precepts of the Lord are right,
    rejoicing the heart;
    the commandment of the Lord is clear,
    enlightening the eyes.
  • My child, do not forget my teaching,
    but let your heart keep my commandments;
    for length of days and years of life
    and abundant welfare they will give you.
  • You must neither add anything to what I command you nor take away anything from it, but keep the commandments of the Lord your God with which I am charging you.
  • Therefore, whoever breaks one of the least of these commandments, and teaches others to do the same, will be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever does them and teaches them will be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
  • Those who keep the commandment will live;
    those who are heedless of their ways will die.
  • Your decrees are my heritage forever;
    they are the joy of my heart.

But now, apart from law, the righteousness of God has been disclosed, and is attested by the law and the prophets, the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe. For there is no distinction.
