Filled with the Holy Spirit, Jesus returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the desert for forty days, where he was tempted by the devil. And in those days He ate nothing, and afterward, when they had ended, He was hungry.
I refrained from eating any choice food, abstaining from consuming meat or wine, and I did not anoint myself until those three weeks had passed.I ate no pleasant food, no meat or wine came into my mouth, nor did I anoint myself at all, till three whole weeks were fulfilled.
Taking the five loaves and the two fish, he looked up to heaven and blessed and broke them and gave them to the disciples to distribute among the people. They all ate and were satisfied. One day, as Jesus was passing through a field of grain on the Sabbath, his disciples began to pick some heads of grain as they walked along. The Pharisees said to him, “Behold, why are your disciples doing what is forbidden on the Sabbath?” He answered, “Have you never read what David did when he and his companions were hungry and in need of food? He entered the house of God when Abiathar was high priest and ate the sacred bread that only the priests were permitted to eat, and he shared it with his companions.” Then he said to them, “The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath. That is why the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath.”Now it happened that He went through the grainfields on the Sabbath; and as they went His disciples began to pluck the heads of grain. And the Pharisees said to Him, “Look, why do they do what is not lawful on the Sabbath?” But He said to them, “Have you never read what David did when he was in need and hungry, he and those with him: how he went into the house of God in the days of Abiathar the high priest, and ate the showbread, which is not lawful to eat except for the priests, and also gave some to those who were with him?” And He said to them, “The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath. Therefore the Son of Man is also Lord of the Sabbath.”
Every day, united in spirit, they would assemble together in the temple. They would break bread in their homes and share their food with joyful and generous hearts as they praised God, and they were regarded with favor by all the people. And day by day the Lord added to those who were being saved.So continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they ate their food with gladness and simplicity of heart, praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved.

For the Lord, your God, is gracious and compassionate, and he will not turn his face away from you if you return to him.For the Lord your God is gracious and merciful, and will not turn His face from you if you return to Him.
The hope of the righteous brings them joy, but the expectations of the wicked are frustrated.The hope of the righteous will be gladness, But the expectation of the wicked will perish.
No one can have greater love than to lay down his life for his friends.Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.
One who forgives a misdeed fosters friendship, but he who divulges it separates good friends.He who covers a transgression seeks love, But he who repeats a matter separates friends.

And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate to be with you forever.And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever.

Jesus said to him, “Go on your way! Your faith has made you well.” Immediately, he received his sight and followed him along the road.Then Jesus said to him, “Go your way; your faith has made you well.” And immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus on the road.
Do you suppose that I cannot appeal to my Father for help and he will not immediately send me more than twelve legions of angels?Or do you think that I cannot now pray to My Father, and He will provide Me with more than twelve legions of angels?

Do not assert that the past was better than the present, for such a statement is not a sign of wisdom.Do not say, “Why were the former days better than these?” For you do not inquire wisely concerning this.
