Bible Verses about 'Study the scriptures'
- Such things were written in the Scriptures long ago to teach us. And the Scriptures give us hope and encouragement as we wait patiently for God’s promises to be fulfilled.
- I passed on to you what was most important and what had also been passed on to me. Christ died for our sins, just as the Scriptures said. He was buried, and he was raised from the dead on the third day, just as the Scriptures said.

For the Scriptures say, “You must be holy because I am holy.” - Dear friends, never take revenge. Leave that to the righteous anger of God. For the Scriptures say,
“I will take revenge;
I will pay them back,”
says the Lord. - That is what the Scriptures mean when they say,
“No eye has seen, no ear has heard,
and no mind has imagined
what God has prepared
for those who love him.” - Then the disciple who had reached the tomb first also went in, and he saw and believed— for until then they still hadn’t understood the Scriptures that said Jesus must rise from the dead.
- This Good News tells us how God makes us right in his sight. This is accomplished from start to finish by faith. As the Scriptures say, “It is through faith that a righteous person has life.”
- As the Scriptures say, “If you want to boast, boast only about the Lord.” When people commend themselves, it doesn’t count for much. The important thing is for the Lord to commend them.
- For the Scriptures say,
“If you want to enjoy life
and see many happy days,
keep your tongue from speaking evil
and your lips from telling lies.
Turn away from evil and do good.
Search for peace, and work to maintain it.” - “Haven’t you read the Scriptures?” Jesus replied. “They record that from the beginning ‘God made them male and female.’” And he said, “‘This explains why a man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two are united into one.’ Since they are no longer two but one, let no one split apart what God has joined together.”
- One Sabbath day as Jesus was walking through some grainfields, his disciples began breaking off heads of grain to eat. But the Pharisees said to Jesus, “Look, why are they breaking the law by harvesting grain on the Sabbath?” Jesus said to them, “Haven’t you ever read in the Scriptures what David did when he and his companions were hungry? He went into the house of God (during the days when Abiathar was high priest) and broke the law by eating the sacred loaves of bread that only the priests are allowed to eat. He also gave some to his companions.” Then Jesus said to them, “The Sabbath was made to meet the needs of people, and not people to meet the requirements of the Sabbath. So the Son of Man is Lord, even over the Sabbath!”
- Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do.
- Work hard so you can present yourself to God and receive his approval. Be a good worker, one who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly explains the word of truth.
- Just as the rich rule the poor,
so the borrower is servant to the lender. - In the beginning the Word already existed.
The Word was with God,
and the Word was God. - The instructions of the Lord are perfect,
reviving the soul.
The decrees of the Lord are trustworthy,
making wise the simple. - The Lord opens the eyes of the blind.
The Lord lifts up those who are weighed down.
The Lord loves the godly. - Give justice to the poor and the orphan;
uphold the rights of the oppressed and the destitute. - The commandments of the Lord are right,
bringing joy to the heart.
The commands of the Lord are clear,
giving insight for living. - The Lord protects the foreigners among us.
He cares for the orphans and widows,
but he frustrates the plans of the wicked. - In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was formless and empty, and darkness covered the deep waters. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the surface of the waters.
- Do not love this world nor the things it offers you, for when you love the world, you do not have the love of the Father in you.
- The hopes of the godly result in happiness,
but the expectations of the wicked come to nothing. - For the world offers only a craving for physical pleasure, a craving for everything we see, and pride in our achievements and possessions. These are not from the Father, but are from this world.
- For the Lord is the Spirit, and wherever the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.
- “I am the Alpha and the Omega—the beginning and the end,” says the Lord God. “I am the one who is, who always was, and who is still to come—the Almighty One.”
- Fear of the Lord is the foundation of wisdom.
Knowledge of the Holy One results in good judgment. - May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.
- The Lord merely spoke,
and the heavens were created.
He breathed the word,
and all the stars were born. - Anyone who denies the Son doesn’t have the Father, either. But anyone who acknowledges the Son has the Father also.
- The words of the godly are like sterling silver;
the heart of a fool is worthless. - Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
- Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.”
- Christ is also the head of the church,
which is his body.
He is the beginning,
supreme over all who rise from the dead.
So he is first in everything. - For wives, this means submit to your husbands as to the Lord. For a husband is the head of his wife as Christ is the head of the church. He is the Savior of his body, the church.
- The lips of the godly speak helpful words,
but the mouth of the wicked speaks perverse words. - We have happy memories of the godly,
but the name of a wicked person rots away. - The godly are showered with blessings;
the words of the wicked conceal violent intentions. - The light shines in the darkness,
and the darkness can never extinguish it. - I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd sacrifices his life for the sheep.
- Yet I am confident I will see the Lord’s goodness
while I am here in the land of the living. - Yes, I came from the Father into the world, and now I will leave the world and return to the Father.
- The grapevines have dried up,
and the fig trees have withered.
The pomegranate trees, palm trees, and apple trees—
all the fruit trees—have dried up.
And the people’s joy has dried up with them.
