- For I handed on to you as of first importance what I in turn had received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the scriptures, and that he was buried, and that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the scriptures.
- For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, so that by steadfastness and by the encouragement of the scriptures we might have hope.

and every tongue shall give praise to God.” - But the scripture has imprisoned all things under the power of sin, so that what was promised through faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe.
- Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave room for the wrath of God; for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.”
- Instead, as he who called you is holy, be holy yourselves in all your conduct; for it is written, “You shall be holy, for I am holy.”
- But, as it is written,
“What no eye has seen, nor ear heard,
nor the human heart conceived,
what God has prepared for those who love him” - Then the other disciple, who reached the tomb first, also went in, and he saw and believed; for as yet they did not understand the scripture, that he must rise from the dead.
- “Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord.” For it is not those who commend themselves that are approved, but those whom the Lord commends.
- For in it the righteousness of God is revealed through faith for faith; as it is written, “The one who is righteous will live by faith.”
- For
“Those who desire life
and desire to see good days,
let them keep their tongues from evil
and their lips from speaking deceit;
let them turn away from evil and do good;
let them seek peace and pursue it.” - Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved by him, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly explaining the word of truth.
- He answered, “Have you not read that the one who made them at the beginning ‘made them male and female,’ and said, ‘For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’? So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.”
- This book of the law shall not depart out of your mouth; you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to act in accordance with all that is written in it. For then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall be successful.
- The rich rules over the poor,
and the borrower is the slave of the lender. - One sabbath he was going through the grainfields; and as they made their way his disciples began to pluck heads of grain. The Pharisees said to him, “Look, why are they doing what is not lawful on the sabbath?” And he said to them, “Have you never read what David did when he and his companions were hungry and in need of food? He entered the house of God, when Abiathar was high priest, and ate the bread of the Presence, which it is not lawful for any but the priests to eat, and he gave some to his companions.” Then he said to them, “The sabbath was made for humankind, and not humankind for the sabbath; so the Son of Man is lord even of the sabbath.”
- For all that is in the world—the desire of the flesh, the desire of the eyes, the pride in riches—comes not from the Father but from the world.
- The law of the Lord is perfect,
reviving the soul;
the decrees of the Lord are sure,
making wise the simple. - In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
- The Lord opens the eyes of the blind.
The Lord lifts up those who are bowed down;
the Lord loves the righteous. - Do not love the world or the things in the world. The love of the Father is not in those who love the world.
- The precepts of the Lord are right,
rejoicing the heart;
the commandment of the Lord is clear,
enlightening the eyes. - Give justice to the weak and the orphan;
maintain the right of the lowly and the destitute. - The Lord watches over the strangers;
he upholds the orphan and the widow,
but the way of the wicked he brings to ruin. - The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom,
and the knowledge of the Holy One is insight. - The memory of the righteous is a blessing,
but the name of the wicked will rot. - In the beginning when God created the heavens and the earth, the earth was a formless void and darkness covered the face of the deep, while a wind from God swept over the face of the waters.
- Take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
- He is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, so that he might come to have first place in everything.
- The hope of the righteous ends in gladness,
but the expectation of the wicked comes to nothing. - I believe that I shall see the goodness of the Lord
in the land of the living. - Wives, be subject to your husbands as you are to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife just as Christ is the head of the church, the body of which he is the Savior.
- No one who denies the Son has the Father; everyone who confesses the Son has the Father also.
- Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.
- By the word of the Lord the heavens were made,
and all their host by the breath of his mouth. - The tongue of the righteous is choice silver;
the mind of the wicked is of little worth. - The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with all of you.
- Blessings are on the head of the righteous,
but the mouth of the wicked conceals violence. - The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law.
- “I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.
- The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not overcome it.
- The lips of the righteous know what is acceptable,
but the mouth of the wicked what is perverse. - Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
- The vine withers,
the fig tree droops.
Pomegranate, palm, and apple—
all the trees of the field are dried up;
surely, joy withers away
among the people. - I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.
