- God is our refuge and strength,
always ready to help in times of trouble. - The Lord is good,

you will not be burned up;
the flames will not consume you. - I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.

- Pride leads to disgrace,
but with humility comes wisdom. - When you make a promise to God, don’t delay in following through, for God takes no pleasure in fools. Keep all the promises you make to him.
- O Lord, you have examined my heart
and know everything about me.

You know my thoughts even when I’m far away. - And when he comes, he will convict the world of its sin, and of God’s righteousness, and of the coming judgment.
- All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is our merciful Father and the source of all comfort. He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us.

- When Job prayed for his friends, the Lord restored his fortunes. In fact, the Lord gave him twice as much as before!

in the morning I earnestly seek you.
For only when you come to judge the earth
will people learn what is right. - God blesses you when people mock you and persecute you and lie about you and say all sorts of evil things against you because you are my followers.
- I will shout for joy and sing your praises,
for you have ransomed me. - But when they saw him walking on the water, they cried out in terror, thinking he was a ghost. They were all terrified when they saw him. But Jesus spoke to them at once. “Don’t be afraid,” he said. “Take courage! I am here!”
- But when you give to someone in need, don’t let your left hand know what your right hand is doing. Give your gifts in private, and your Father, who sees everything, will reward you.
- And remember, when you are being tempted, do not say, “God is tempting me.” God is never tempted to do wrong, and he never tempts anyone else.
- But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.
